JTL Drum Self-Study: E-Drums
Plug in your e-drums and play
Free · In‑App Purchases · Designed for iPad. Not verified for macOS.
Plug in your electronic drum kit and the app hears every hit. Falling-note game plus real drum scores, 79 lessons from your first kick to full grooves, with band backing.
I'm Teacher Hu, owner of JIETERLI MUSIC in Taiwan. This app is for you if you just got an electronic drum kit and want to start playing on your own. Connect the kit to your phone or tablet with a USB cable, and the app hears every hit - where it landed and how close to the beat it was.
READY TO GO
JIETERLI MX-550 and MX-110S kits work right away with no setup. Other brands work too - the "Set Up My Kit" wizard maps your pads in one go. No kit with you? Start with the on-screen pads.
TWO WAYS TO PRACTICE
- Game mode: notes fall down the screen. Hit them right and they light up green; early or late, the app tells you by how many milliseconds.
- Score mode: a real drum score scrolls as you play, so you learn to read music for real.
- Wait Mode: no metronome pressure. The score only moves on when you hit the right note.
12 UNITS, 79 LESSONS, IN THE ORDER I TEACH IN MY SHOP
From your first kick, to hi-hat and snare, to a full basic beat, then dotted notes, fills, accents, ghost notes and flams, faster eighth-note hi-hats, and common styles (rock, pop, funk, blues, country, reggae, bossa nova, shuffle). Every practice song has real guitar and bass backing, and you can change the tempo.
CUSTOM SCORES (14-DAY FREE TRIAL, THEN SUBSCRIPTION)
Write your own drum score on a simple grid, or take a photo of a paper drum score (beta), and it becomes a scrolling score you can play along with. Share scores with students by QR code. Students who import by QR do not need a subscription. Scores are stored only on your device, never on our servers.
ALSO
Free Play to test your kit, automatic latency compensation for Bluetooth speakers, and velocity detection for accents and ghost notes. Stuck? Message me on LINE right from the app.
