Crease Critters is a cozy pixel-art virtual pet that lives in a two-room house built around your phone's fold. The crease isn't in the way. It's the wall, the floor and the ladder.
OPEN THE PHONE, AND THE HOUSE POPS UP
Open a compatible foldable phone and the house rises like a pop-up book, in step with the hinge. On your first open, a speckled egg wobbles, cracks and hatches Pip, your very own critter.
TWO ROOMS, ONE CREASE
• Hold it like a book and the bedroom sits on the left page and the kitchen on the right. Your critter walks through an arched doorway in the crease.
• Hold it like a laptop and the bedroom is upstairs, sitting on the crease. At bedtime your critter climbs a ladder up the fold to get to bed.
• Lay it flat and the whole house opens up.
THE HINGE IS PART OF THE GAME
• Move the hinge and the house reacts. Furniture sways, the lamp swings and dust sifts down from the crease.
• Tilt the phone and your critter can tumble.
• Snap the phone open too fast and you'll startle your critter, with a jump, a "!" and a sharp double haptic bump. Open it gently.
CLOSE IT FOR LIGHTS OUT
Closing the phone turns the lights off, and your critter goes to sleep and gets its energy back. The cover screen turns into a night window with a moon, twinkling stars, your sleeping critter and its needs at a glance.
DAILY CARE, NO GUILT
Feed berries, cookies and veggies. Pet your critter with a finger, toss the ball, give it a bubble bath and tuck it in. Needs change in real time, even while the app is closed. Your critter never dies. If you've been away for a while, it waits by the window for you.
