Keeps the groove of a drum loop and plays it again with 7,500+ recordings of wood, metal, skin and bells. Clap or beatbox and the closest role answers.
MOSAIC keeps the groove of a drum loop (where each hit falls and how hard) and plays it again with recordings of other things. Wood, metal, skin, bells, body sounds: more than 7,500 recordings, all CC0, are inside the app.
Bring a sound in
• ● REC: counts four, then records two bars from the microphone at the current tempo and plays them back at once. 1 to 16 bars, or FREE until you stop. Your voice works, so does knocking on a table.
• LOAD: pick from Files, paste audio copied in another app, open it from another app's share sheet, or use the built-in demo loop.
• EDIT LOOP: move the start and end with your finger, snapped to the beat.
Play it again
• Role lanes: tap a lane and that role plays now. Harder with the pad of your finger, softer with the tip; slide across for a roll.
• Materials: choose WOOD, METAL, SKIN and more; the roles change sound, the groove stays.
• TIMBRE MAP: a map of the sounds. Move a ■ and the role moves to the nearest instrument.
• 11 pads, HOLD, favourites A–D, DICE, EVOLVE, TOY BOX.
Play with the room
• LISTEN (SENSE > MIC, standalone app): clap, knock on the table, or say "boom" and "ts", and the closest role plays at once. It works with the built-in speaker too.
• KEEP WHAT I HEAR keeps your hits, one by one, as your own sounds.
• TILT, SHAKE and LIGHT move the sound. Turn on only the ones you want.
• PLAY mode: four big pads and the map, nothing else. One tap on CHAOS makes it dense and messy; tap again to go back.
Take it out
• SAVE + SHARE 8 BARS: the 8 bars playing now as a 24-bit WAV, to AirDrop, Files or another app.
• Save your own sounds, share them all, add sounds from Files.
• Tempo: drag, TAP or type it. Follows MIDI clock, and MIDI notes play the roles (from C2). Inside a host it follows the host.
MOSAIC FX is included: an AUv3 effect that replaces the drums coming in (microphone or audio interface) with other recorded sounds, hit by hit.

No internet connection, no data collected. The microphone is used only when you record with ● REC and while SENSE > MIC is on. The camera is used only while SENSE > LIGHT is on, to read how bright the room is. MIC and LIGHT use numbers only: nothing is recorded, photographed or sent. Only when you turn on KEEP WHAT I HEAR are your hits kept, on this device, as your own sounds.
