Hear how familiar English words change in natural speech. English Connected Speech helps you listen for links between words, word stress and weak forms.
12 chapters, 72 practice sets and 1,080 questions. Work with American English examples in four exercise types:
• Connected speech: listen to a complete sentence and choose the phrase you heard.
• Sound matching: hear the sentence, then two options pronounced separately, played one after the other. English text stays hidden until you answer. Replay the sentence or either option independently.
• Word stress: listen to the target word, then tap a syllable button to identify its main stress.
• Weak forms: distinguish how a common function word is pronounced in that recording.
Audio plays automatically when you enter a question. Replay any question, then review clear correct/incorrect icons, explanations and audio comparisons. Revisit a specific skill or continue where you left off.
Guidance in nine languages
The interface, instructions and question explanations support Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, English, Japanese, Korean, German, French, Spanish and Brazilian Portuguese. The app follows your system's preferred language and uses English when that language is unsupported. You can also choose a language in My; your choice is saved on the device. Practice words, sentences and recordings are in American English.
Courses and audio included
All lessons and English audio install with the app on iPhone and iPad. No further downloads are needed for practice. No account required, no microphone recording and no ads. Your learning progress stays on your device.
One-time purchase, no subscription
Chapter 1 includes 90 free questions. A single in-app purchase permanently unlocks chapters 2–12 and 990 additional questions, with no subscription or automatic renewal. Purchases and restoration require an App Store connection; the price shown in the store applies. After reinstalling or changing devices, restore your purchase from the purchase screen or My.
