Quietbooks is a calm reader for EPUB books. It sets every page the way a printed book is set, keeps a notebook in every book, and stays out of the way. AN EARLY VERSION, UPDATED OFTEN Quietbooks is new, and this is an early version. It’s updated often, with new features and fixes from one week to the next. If something doesn’t work as it should, or you miss something, tap Report a Problem in Settings and tell us. That’s how the next version gets better. SET LIKE A PRINTED BOOK Justified text with proper hyphenation, in the book’s own language. Real page numbers, counted for the whole book, and the chapter’s name at the top of each page. Pages turn like paper: tap either edge, or drag. Hold your iPhone sideways and the screen becomes an open book, two pages with the spine in the middle and the odd numbers on the right, as in print. MADE FOR IPHONE DUO Open iPhone Duo and the book opens with it: two pages side by side, the fold where the spine is. Your notes take the right-hand page, with one tap back to the book. On the shelf, your books and notebooks sit side by side, and a notebook opens like one, two pages at a time. A NOTEBOOK IN EVERY BOOK Touch and hold a sentence to quote it in the book’s notes, then write your own words below it. Every note is headed with its page and chapter, a pencil mark in the margin leads back to it, and the sentence you quoted is shaded faintly on its page. Share your notes as text when you want them somewhere else. MARK THE PAGE Underline with a pen and mark with a highlighter, with your finger or Apple Pencil, in ink, red or blue, yellow, green or pink. Erase, undo and redo. Your marks stay with the words they were made on. NOTEBOOKS OF YOUR OWN Make a notebook with a cloth cover in one of six colors and lined, dotted or blank paper, and write in it by hand or with the keyboard. What you write at the top of a page becomes its heading in the notebook’s contents. Share a notebook as a PDF. The notes you make in a book are on the same shelf, as a notebook that belongs to the book. FIND IT AGAIN One search for everything: the books on your shelf, the notes in them, and the pages of your notebooks, handwriting included. In a book, search the whole text and see every find with its chapter and page. The contents with page numbers, bookmarks with the first words of their page, and after a jump, one tap back to where you were. Footnotes open on a slip of paper over the page. Look Up any word in the dictionaries on your iPhone. YOUR PAPER, YOUR TYPE Paper, sepia, or night, or automatic with Dark Mode. Five book faces drawn for long reading: Iowan, Charter, Palatino, Baskerville, and New York. Choose the text size, the line spacing, and justified text or a ragged right. YOUR SHELF Add EPUB files from Files, from a link, or by sharing them from Safari or another app. The book you’re reading waits at the top, ready to continue. Sort by title, author, what you read last, or what you added last, and mark a book as finished. Books without a cover get a cloth binding of their own. PRIVATE No account, no tracking, no analytics, and no ads. Your books, notebooks, notes, bookmarks, and drawings stay on your iPhone. Handwriting is read by iOS on your iPhone, so search can find it. Quietbooks goes online only when you ask it to. Quietbooks reads EPUB files without DRM. Copy-protected books can’t be opened.
