Die Slim Plan/ The Clever Plan is part of a series of interactive book apps in South African Sign Language available for Afrikaans and English speaking iPad users.
The Clever Plan is a tale of how a mom and a little girl make a plan. Mom and Thuba plants mielies (corn) and sell the mielies to make enough money to buy Thuba a new bicycle. Within the story we tell the tale of sowing seeds, taking care of crops and harvesting the maze.
The application makes use of simplified text, SASL sign video, animation, as well as finger spelling to help deaf users formulate a better understanding of concepts, actions and words in written text. The app is suitable for both sign users and non-sign users or hard of hearing user. This app is two books rolled into one using English first language in The Clever Plan and Afrikaans first language in Die Slim Plan

Die Slim Plan is ‘n verhaal van hoe ‘n mamma en ‘n klein dogtertjie saamwerk en ‘n plan maak. Mamma en Thuba plant mielies en verkoop die mielies om genoeg geld the maak om vir Thuba ‘n nuwe fiets te koop. In die storie vertel ons hoe sade geplant word, hoe daar na ‘n land omgesien word en hoe mielies geoes word.
Die toepassing maak gebruik van eenvoudige teks, Suid Afrikaanse Gebaretaal, Gebaretaal video, animasie en ook vingerspelling om dowe gebruikers te help met die formulasie van konsepte, aksies en woorde in geskrewe teks. Die toepassing is geskik vir gebaretaalgebruikers en nie-gebaretaalgebruikers of hardhorende gebruikers. Hierdie toepassing bestaan uit twee boeke - die eerste met Engels as eerste taal in The Clever Plan en die tweede met Afrikaans as eerste taal in Die Slim Plan
