With the current “Threes!” game craze and gamut of clones, I scanned through the current offering of these games. The 2048 App stood out as having a clean and colorful game design and icon. I took a chance and downloaded it. The game loads quickly and (at least so far) is devoid of annoying adds. It doesn’t have a lot of bells and whistles, cutesy layers, or even instructions. But, the gameplay is very intuitive and the graphics and animations are crisp and first rate. For my criteria, this game is a jump ahead of the competition. I expect to be playing it until 2048 (the numerical total, not the year). Give it a try!Addendum: Reviewer Steve Gibson comments (March 24th, 1-star rating) that the three of a kind combination of this app is 'improper behavior'…..my own take is that it is an elegant innovation.

I've tried other apps but I really like this one. It has bright colorful tiles. I also like the score keeper. For 2 together it's 2 squared. For 2 three in a row it's 2 to the third power. Good game.

This WOULD be my favorite among the many... But it doesn't combine tiles correctly!! Any three of a kind combine into one at 4x... Which is improper behavior. :(I hope this will get fixed, since THIS is the one I want most to use!
