First Nations Storybook: Cree
Bush Cree
Free
First Nations Storybook – Bush Cree edition houses a collection of books written and produced in the Cree language. Each book features colourful illustrations and Cree text as read by a fluent Cree speaker. The collection includes stories as told by elders, parents and students, local legends and tales that reflect the traditions, values and experiences of the northern aboriginal. Listen to the stories, repeat the spoken word and enjoy the cultural experiences shared through this collection.
The FN Storybook Project is intended to support individuals who are intent on learning and speaking their ancestral language. This collection, with spoken-word and text, provides the tools by which one may rediscover and practice their language. This project was developed by the South Slave Divisional Education Council with funding provided by the Government of the Northwest Territories.
Users are invited to write, illustrate and record their own books in the Cree language and submit these to the publisher for review and possible inclusion in this collection of books.
Download the app for free today and begin the journey of rediscovery.
