I have been going nuts downloading multipart video tutorials each over a GB. Safari would just fail in the middle of the download and is unable to recover from the failure. Permission denied errors it seems. I don’t get it, because this little app can consistently pick up if there is a failure where Safari would just give up. And the best part, it can chunk your downloads into multiple parts and download them all simultaneously. So if you have a fast connection but the server from which you are downloading throtles your speeds, this feature can really speed things up.Now, if only they could update the UI to be more in line with modern OS X design guidelines, this app would be a killer. And maybe a menubar interface would be sweet. Overall you can’t go wrong with this little app. I would happily pay to buy this. And it is free!

Lately I have had a lot of problems getting files downloaded though the Safari browser. Even for small 500mb files the browser was downloading files at just a few kb/s. Maybe because I am in China it is exceedingy slow and often the Safari browser download would just stop downloading. I installed Download Shuttle and the files downloaded exremely fast. It has really made downlioading files so much better and much much faster. If you are having trouble with slow downloads in the Safari browser then get this app!!!

This app has been a huge help! Where I’m at in the world, the internet isn’t always consistant, and this app not only speeds up downloads, but does a great job of completing downloads that freeze, stop, or have to switch connections online. All you have to do is copy the download link, paste it, start it… then it does all the work! You can also name the file, and pick the location. It’s a great app I use often.

Was using this to download a large (~180GB) .img file.It was fast to download the file, very impressed.However, it was unable to reassemble the pieces, making the process a waste of time.As another reviewer mentionned, it gets stuck “Finalizing”. I was able to monitor the temp file it was creating and realised that it was progressing, albeit painfully slowly.Let it run overnight and in the morning it had caused a system crash. Great.Did anyone mention that you need 3x the storage space of the download? You need enough space to download the file, and then TWICE the space of the file to even attempt Finalizing.Download Shuttle would benefit from some bug fixes and optimisations for newer versions of MacOS. I remember it used to work great in Sierra..My solution was downloading FolX direct from the developer’s site (not the weird App Store version) for free. It downloaded the 180GB file just as quickly as Download Shuttle but did not require absurd amounts of free space to reassemble the pieces. And it worked first time.
