Touch Sound supports early literacy learning of young children. Developed by Dr. Zhen Chai of New Mexico State University Department of Special Education & Communication Disorders, this app helps young children learn to receptively identify initial phonemes. Phonological awareness (PA) skills are a component of early literacy instruction and essential in helping children become independent readers. With Touch Sound, children can practice and improve identification of initial phonemes. Adults select the phonemes, the length of time between the task direction and the prompt, number of trials, and number of multiple-choice offerings.
