Zoigl
All Zoigl dates at hand
$1.99 · In‑App Purchases
Zoigl shows which pubs serving Zoigl (“Zoiglstube”) are open today. Zoigl is the typical beer of the region Upper Palatinate in Bavaria. The detail view of a selected Zoiglstube shows on several tabs:
• Info: general information about the Zoiglstube (name of the innkeeper, address, telephone number, email address, homepage, origin of the Zoigl, opening hours, type of food available and more),
• Map: its location on a map from which navigation to the Zoiglstube can be started,
• Dates: a list of opening days,
• Calendar: an annual calendar showing all Zoigl dates of a year at a glance (in-app purchase),
• Images: for a large part of the Zoiglstuben, images of the Zoiglstube are available and can be displayed in the app (in-app purchase),
• Visits: for each Zoigstube you can record one or more visits with ratings of beer, food and ambience as well as a description as free text (in-app purchase).
Alternatively, a list of all Zoigl places (Zoigstuben, inns and restaurants serving Zoigl, breweries producing an unfiltered beer marketed as Zoigl) can be displayed.
The master data of all approx. 130 Zoigl places (including about 40 closed ones) and the Zoigl dates for the 15 Zoigstuben of the association “Echter Zoigl vom Kommunbrauer” (Real Zoigl from the communal brewer) are delivered with the app. The dates for the about 60 other Zoigl pubs and taverns serving Zoigl can be purchased additionally for each calendar year as an in-app purchase.
The app also provides information in areas with poor or no mobile signal reception and without a connection to the Internet, because all data and dates are stored in the app itself. An internet connection is only required to display the maps and calculate the distance in road kilometers.
more • On the Calendar tab (in-app purchase Year Calendar required), swiping left to access the previous year’s calendar no longer worked from iOS 26.0 onwards. This bug has been fixed.
• On some devices, audio playback from other apps (e.g. Apple Music or Spotify) would previously stop when the Zoigl app played its sound effects or when starting the App. The fix in version 26.4 did not fully resolve the issue. A further fix resolves the issue: audio playback from other apps is now only turned down for a few seconds when the Zoigl app is launched.
26.20 1d ago
• Complete reimplementation of the function for displaying a visit to a Zoiglstube (requires the ‘Visits’ in-app purchase). This should resolve all issues and bugs for all supported versions of iOS (15 to 26).
• Maintenance of the master data for some Zoiglstuben.
26.19 Aug 18
• Display of the current size of map caches for the three map types (Google, OSM and OSM2) in the settings.
• Another fix for iOS 26 (sigh): it is now possible once again to edit long comment texts for visits without the keyboard obscuring the longer text.
• Updates to the master data for some Zoiglstuben.
• Removal of some Zoigl dates due to holidays, staff shortages, etc.; version 26.29 of the in-app purchase Zoigl Dates 2026 now contains 1,538 Zoigl dates (4,541 days) for a further 63 Zoiglstuben and Zoigl pubs.
26.18 Aug 13
• The Laubhof-Zoigl microbrewery in Hahnbach has been added to the app’s database.
• The Zoigl dates for Laubhof-Zoigl have been added to the in-app purchase Zoigl Dates 2026; version 26.28 therefore contains 1,544 Zoigl dates (4,564 days) for a further 63 Zoiglstuben and Zoigl pubs.
• An internal improvement will prevent that in-app purchases referencing new or changed master data – which was not yet included in previous versions – cause errors when installing the in-app purchase.
26.17 Jul 29
• The Zoigl pub Blockhaus Waldnaabtal in Falkenberg, which was re-opened in April, has been added to the app’s database.
• The Zoigl dates for Blockhaus Waldnaabtal have been added to the in-app purchase Zoigl Dates 2026; version 26.27 now contains 1,538 Zoigl dates (4,552 days) for a further 62 Zoiglstuben and Zoigl pubs.
• For links (What others write) leading to paid services (e.g. Plus subscriptions), a euro symbol (€) is now displayed after the name of the publication.
• Master data for some Zoiglstuben has been corrected; some new links (What others write) have been added.
26.16 Jul 23
• Fixed a bug that caused the incorrect display of the number of closed Zoigl places in the All Zoigl places view when a specific category was requested. Also show the text informing about the number of closed Zoigl places in the accent color to indicate that it is touchable.
• The context menu that appears when you press and hold a category icon has been expanded to include the menu item Explain Category. Selecting this option displays the app’s help, positioned on the description of the relevant category. The menu item Explain Category is displayed only once per category.
• Corrected the master data of some Zoiglstuben; renamed Gasthof Lober to Gasthaus Lober – Zur Wirti; added some new links (What others write).
• Various changes to the in-app purchase Zoigl Dates 2026 since version 26.23: Version 26.25 contains 1,512 Zoigl dateas (4,408 days) for 61 additional Zoiglstuben and Zoigl pubs.
26.15 Jul 16
• The Zoigl am Alten Marktplatz in Marktredwitz reopened back in September 2024 (which I had completely missed until now); it’s now listed as open in the app again, complete with regular opening hours.
• The Zoigl dates for Zoigl am Alten Marktplatz have been added. Version 26.23 of the in-app purchase Zoigl Dates 2026 now contains 1,501 Zoigl dates (4,385 days) for a further 61 Zoigl bars and Zoigl pubs.
• Nine new images have been added for Beim Gloser, Kramer-Wolf, Zoiglmoos, Zum Lohbinder and Zum Glöckerlbauer. Version 26.3 of the in-app purchase Images contains 859 images for 101 Zoigl pubs.

• For macOS: The functionality to select the date for which open Zoiglstuben are to be displayed has been restored.
• Several changes to the in-app purchase Zoigl dates for 2026 since version 26.20: Version 26.22 contains 1,448 Zoigl dates (4,154 days) for a further 60 Zoiglstuben and Zoigl pubs.

• The master data for some Zoiglstuben has been updated.
• Several changes since version 26.17 of the in-app purchase Zoigl Dates 2026: Version 26.20 contains 1,435 Zoigl dates (4,109 days) for 60 additional Zoiglstuben and Zoigl pubs
26.11 Jun 8
• Corrected some smaller errors.
• The font size in the 'Purchases' view has been increased to improve readability.
• Updated master data for some Zoiglstuben.
• Several changes since version 26.14 of Zoigl Dates 2026, version 26.17 of the in-app purchase Zoigl Dates 2026 contains 1,417 Zoigl dates (4,110 days) for 60 additional Zoiglstuben and Zoigl pubs.
26.10 May 28
• Changes since version 26.11 of Zoigl Dates 2026: Some Zoigl dates for Zoigl pubs with regular opening days have been removed where corresponding announcements were available on social media. The first set of Zoigl dates for Kommune Schaffer in Neustadt a.d. Pegnitz, for Höpfl Zoigl in Bärnau and for Dameradl in Waldershof has been added. The Zoiglstube zur Gerechtsamkeit in Neunkirchen is open seven days a week from 15 o'clock during the summer months of May to August. The date for another Zoigl evening at the Riedl Brewery in Plößberg has been added. Version 26.14 of the in-app purchase Zoigl Dates 2026 thus contains 1,394 Zoigl dates (4,072 days) for 59 additional Zoiglstuben and Zoigl pubs.
• Master data for some Zoiglstuben has been updated (mainly opening hours).
• The internal management of in-app purchases has been completely modernised and switched from the deprecated StoreKit to StoreKit 2 This should not cause any noticeable changes in the app, but the devil is in the detail. Please report any errors that, despite extensive testing, occur when purchasing or restoring in-app purchases via Menu > Feedback.
26.9 Apr 24
From iOS 26 onwards, restoring purchases no longer worked; instead, it failed with the error message “The operation couldn't be completed. (storekitd.RequestError error 0.)” sent by the App Store. Version 26.8 introduces a workaround that allows purchases to be restored without the App Store’s involvement.
26.8 Mar 29
• Unfortunately, the workaround released with version 26.6 did not work for email apps other than Apple Mail if the email to be sent contained an attachment, as is the case, for example, with the Export user data function. An extension is now available that allows to include attachments, although the attachment is not included automatically but must be added manually using the respective email app.
• You can now use the function Menu > Feedback to optionally include the app’s log output as an attachment. You won’t usually need to do this, but if the app is causing problems, it may help the developer to analyse the issue. Naturally, no personal data is sent.
26.7 Mar 25
• Until now, the Menu > Feedback function required the Apple Mail app to be installed. For users who had selected a different email client (such as Web.de Mail, GMX Mail or Gmail) as their default email application AND had uninstalled Apple Mail, the Feedback function did not work. A workaround has now been created for these cases, enabling feedback emails to be sent.
• The master data for some Zoigl pubs has been updated.
• Minor changes to Zoigl dates have been incorporated. Version 26.10 of the in-app purchase Zoigl Dates 2026 therefore contains 1,385 Zoigl dates (4,025 days) for 56 additional Zoigl pubs and Zoigl establishments.
26.6 Mar 19
• Several improvements have been made for iPad:
· When starting up, the map with all open Zoiglstuben was redrawn several times, which led to a very flickery appearance. Now the map is only displayed once when the app is launched.
· When switching to the view of all Zoigl pubs, the map was not redrawn. This bug has been fixed.
· In the view of all Zoiglstuben the map was not updated accordingly when switching between showing or hiding permanently closed Zoiglstuben. This bug has been fixed.
• Master data updated, new external links (What others write) added.
• If a link to a brewery that is not listed in the Zoigl app is provided on the Info tab under "Zoigl:", the link leads to the brewery's external website and is opened in the browser after confirmation by the user (see, for example, Buchwalder Zoiglstub’n).
• In iOS 26, the button for closing the dialogue was displayed with a dark background in the navigation bars of some modal dialogues. Now all buttons have a uniform appearance.
26.5 Mar 8
• On some devices, background audio playback from other apps (e.g. Apple Music or Spotify) was previously stopped when the Zoigl app played its sound effects. This issue has now been resolved: the volume of an app playing audio in the background is reduced, the sound effect is played, and the background volume is increased again.
• The app's start screen has been improved.
• The Zoigstube Schwoazhansl-Zoigl in Falkenberg since 2016 no longer serves Zoigl and has been marked as closed.
• Three additional Zoigl dates for Grenz-Zoigl in Ranna have been added. Version 26.7 of the in-app purchase Zoigl dates 2026 now contains 1376 Zoigl dates (4074 days) for 56 additional Zoiglstuben and Zoiglwirtschaften.
26.4 Feb 5
• The error whereby the current year was displayed twice on the dates tab (once with the correct Zoigl dates, the second time without Zoigl dates) has been corrected.
• The status of the tabs (activated or not) was previously not visualised correctly in iOS 26. Deactivated tabs are now clearly recognisable as the image and text below them are dimmed.
• One Zoigl date each has been added for the Riedl brewery in Plößberg and for Grenz-Zoigl in Ranna. Version 26.6 of the in-app purchase Zoiglt dates 2026 now contains 1375 Zoigl dates (4071 days) for 56 additional Zoiglstuben and Zoigl pubs. Unfortunately, both often announce their Zoigl dates one by one and at fairly short notice.
26.3 Jan 27
• Further Zoigl dates have been added for Zum Zäpferten in Eslarn, Zoigltag in Mitterteich, Beim Heigl in Schirmitz. Version 26.5 of the in-app purchase Zoigl dates 2026 contains 1373 Zoigl dates (4067 days) for 55 additional Zoiglstuben and Zoigl pubs.
• Master data for some Zoiglstuben (daily opening hours, etc.) has been updated and additional links (What others write) have been added.
• The Stammtischfreunde Plößberg association has reopened the Riedl brewery in Plößberg as a pub and hosts a Zoigl evening once a month with freshly brewed Zoigl.
• For Zoigl pubs that are open regularly and whose Zoigl dates are therefore calculated, the text "regularly" is now displayed on the Info tab under opening hours. It is strongly recommended that you check whether these Zoigl pubs are actually open before visiting, as vacations etc. are not taken into account.
26.2 Jan 20
• Version 26.3 of the in-app purchase Zoigl dates 2026 contains 1277 Zoigl dates (3755 days) for 49 additional Zoiglstuben and Zoigl pubs.
• Version 26.1 of the in-app purchase Zoigl dates prior years also includes the Zoigl dates for 2025, giving a total of 14,233 Zoigl dates from 2012 to 2025 for 76 Zoiglstuben and Zoigl pubs.
• Version 26.1 of the in-app purchase Images contains 850 pictures for 101 Zoiglstuben and Zoigl pubs.
• Master data for some Zoiglstuben and Zoigl pubs (daily opening hours, etc.) has been updated.
• Gasthof zum Waldnaabsee has been renamed to Beim Deinzer.
• User data (own images, visits) is no longer exported via the settings but via the app menu.
• Major internal adjustments to meet future Apple requirements. This should not affect the functionality of the app, but if you encounter any problems, please report them via Menu > Feedback.
26.1 Jan 1
• The Zoigl app follows Apple's version numbering system and switches to the current year: as soon as a version is released at the turn of the year with the first Zoigl dates for the new year, it bears the year of the new year.
• This version of the app contains all dates for the new year 2026 for the communal brewers with Real Zoigl from the communal brewer, in addition to the dates for 2025.
• A first version of the in-app purchase Zoigl dates 2026 is now available. It contains the Zoigl dates for the Zoigl locations with regular opening hours and for some Zoigl pubs that have already published their Zoigl dates (albeit only for the first half of the year). Version 26.0 of the in-app purchase Zoigltermine 2026 contains 929 Zoigl dates (2658 days) for 23 additional Zoiglstuben and Zoiglwirtschaften.
• An error has been corrected that prevented the date set via Menu > Date or by swiping right or left from taking effect.
26.0 11/22/2025
• Incorrect opening hours for Zum Roudn in Windischeschenbach corrected.
• With iOS 26.1, Apple has fixed the speech synthesis error, so it is now possible to use the Spoken Text option for approach notifications again.
• Various errors in map display fixed.
• Zoigl dates for November and December added for Grenz-Zoigl in Auerbach-Ranna. Version 10.24 of the in-app purchase Zoigl Dates 2025 now contains 1392 Zoigl dates (4108 days) for 59 Zoiglstuben.

Introduction of a map cache for non-Apple map servers:
• If a map other than Apple Maps, i.e. Google or OpenStreetMap (OSM, OSM2), is selected in the map tab, all map tiles delivered by the corresponding map server are stored in a cache. If a map tile is found in the cache when the map is called up again, it is used without causing network traffic. If there are enough map tiles in the cache, a map can also be displayed offline, e.g., in areas with no reception, which is not uncommon when sitting in a Zoiglstuben. The cache survives a restart of the app, so that with frequent use of the app, almost all the necessary map tiles are available offline. By default, a maximum of 100 megabytes are used for the cache per map (Google, OSM, OSM2).
• The last map selection made now is saved in the app settings, so that it survives even if the app is restarted. This selection can also be made in the app settings.
• The size of the map cache in megabytes can be selected in the app settings. Please note that a separate cache is maintained for each map type. Reducing the cache to a value of 0 deletes all map caches and prevents further use of the caches until a value greater than 0 is set again.
• Please note that if you select OSM2, the free map server used only provides a daily quota of 5,000 tiles per 24 hours. This is what makes the use of a cache particularly interesting when using OSM2, as requests for map tiles can be safisfied from the cache. When the quota is expired, a corresponding message is displayed.
Further changes:
• Adding and changing the voice command for Siri now works again in iOS 26. However, speech recognition has difficulty recognising dialect words such as Zoigl. Therefore, it sometimes takes several attempts before Siri understands the voice command.
• The display of Siri query results has been revised and improved; text and images are now fully visible again (for all supported versions of iOS).
• Various minor improvements and efficiency enhancements by reducing resource requirements.
• The help text (Extended Help) has been thorougly revised and supplemented with screenshots for iOS 26.

18.19 11/10/2025
Many adjustments for iOS 26:
• New symbols in the buttons in the navigation bar.
• On the iPhone, the search mask in the two lists of open and all Zoigl places is now permanently displayed. It appears at the bottom and overlays the last item in the respective list.
• On the iPhone, the category selection is displayed in text form when the search function is activated for the first time after starting the app; category icons are displayed when the search is activated again.
• On the iPad, the tab bar no longer appears with text and icons at the bottom, but as text (without icons) at the top below the navigation bar.
Some functions have been permanently removed or are temporarily unavailable:
• The app longer supports landscape mode on the iPhone (also applies when using the app on iOS versions prior to iOS 26).
• Temporary removal of support for setting and changing the activation text for Siri.
• Until further notice, it is no longer possible to use Spoken text as a sound effect for notifications when approaching a Zoiglstube on iOS 26, as this was a reason for many crashes of the app. On iOS 26, the sound effect Pouring a beer is used instead of the spoken text.
• The app's help text has not yet been adapted to the new appearance of the app on iOS 26.
