iGold was the very first gold app on the App Store, launched on the day the App Store opened. Now, redesigned for iOS 8 with many new features, iGold is still the best way to track precious metals!

Nicest looking icon and UI among the gold tracking app. I thought I would regret buying this app, but I found out that it is extremely quick. Prior to this app I was using Kcast by Kitco. It was good and very informative with info on crude oil, other indexes and news. However, it has ads and doesn't look as crisp. iGold looks great, has a gold calculator, and it loads super fast. Drawbacks are it only has gold, silver, and, platinum, and missing a news section.
I'm puzzled as to why this app is not higher up which prevented me from finding it until now.
great, elegant app worth every penny
first, anybody who thinks $7.99 is a lot of money is seriously delusional. I mean, $7.99 is a lot of money for a piece of Dubble Bubble, sure, but it's not a lot of money for a pretty and very useful iPhone application that beautifies, clarifies and takes all the effort out of a task some of us perform numerous times a day (and that does all that on a platform you can carry around in a holster on your belt). if you don't think this app is worth the price, then don't buy it - which means you can't use it, which in turn means you're incapable of writing an informed review of it, so just keep your mouth shut. : P
if, however, you have use for the functionality this app provides, you will not find that functionality in a clearer, handier or more elegant package anywhere. not even in my all-time favorite iPhone app, Bloomberg. Bloomberg has commodities prices now, yes, but you have to do a bunch of tapping and dragging to get to them (if there's a way to add commodities to your portfolio page, I haven't found it), and they don't update once you're there. by contrast, one tap on iGold's icon is all it takes to see gold, silver and platinum prices that update themselves before your eyes at whatever interval you've specified.
if Bloomberg's approach is sufficient to your needs, then skip this app, but if you'd appreciate much easier access to spot prices and for them to keep updating themselves once you've arrived, iGold's your baby.
Works very well
I love this app. I'm clicking on it all the time to see how my metals are doing. I would love to see palladium added however. One of my most frequently used apps. With positions in the metals markets it's a nice, seemless app that does the job. $7.99 for it? That's less than 1 ounce of gold moves in a typical day. I'm venturing the guess that most traders don't care one whit about the cost.
With Family Sharing set up, up to six family members can use this app.
