iStruct2D turns your iPad into a 2D structural-analysis sketchpad. Draw a beam, frame or truss with your finger or Apple Pencil, add supports and loads, and tap once to see exactly how it behaves — reactions, shear, bending, axial force and the deflected shape.
Built for engineering students, educators and professionals who want to test an idea, check a result by hand, or simply understand how a structure carries load — without the friction of desktop software.
DRAW BY HAND
• Drag to place each member; members that share an end automatically join at a node
• Endpoints snap to the grid and to existing nodes
• Tap any length to type an exact value
• Two fingers pan and zoom — or switch on Apple Pencil mode to draw while your fingers navigate
ADD SUPPORTS
• Pin, roller and fully-fixed supports
• Tap to choose the orientation, then drag onto a node
• A drop ring turns green the moment a support is in range to attach
APPLY LOADS
• Point loads and moments
• Distributed loads — uniform or trapezoidal, with separate start and end magnitudes
• Acting perpendicular to the member, or locked to a global axis
ANALYSE IN ONE TAP
• Solved with the direct stiffness method
• Several independent structures in one workspace, each solved on its own
• Unstable structures and mechanisms are detected and clearly flagged
