One of the Worst Streaming Apps Ever

"Saite!" The worst!
Developers should be ashamed. Movies are ok but limited. TV dramas are a pitiful mess. Streaming channels schedules are only forward-time looking so you cannot look back even in the same day to see what Episode number you may have/probably missed. Episode numbers are not sequential but jump around. Completely inconsistent app interfaces between Web, iPad, iPhone and AppleTV. Schedules frequently freeze. No ability to communicate with a human. The Chat option doesnt understand anything you write. Streaming Channel 1 information and title/episode label doesnt match Streaming Channel 2. This is crazy and completely negligent. Be forewarned: you will get to view Japanese movies many with english subtitles, you will even get to see Streaming tv series episodes, but you will never be able to follow them sequentially.

App Has Major Problems

Like many other people, I downloaded the JME app to replace the on-air TV Japan program that discontinued service. After one week, I am very disappointed with the app. Most people that are new to JME are from the North American region where there is time change of 10-12 hours. Unfortunately JME does not have a record capability. Staying up past midnight to watch your favorite show is not a very good solution. JME needs to create a record solution, or offer repeats of NHK shows. Although JME’s menu offers a My List option, it does not work at all. Since there are a lot of elderly folks that were forced to make the change from TV Japan to JME, a tutorial on the app options would probably be desirable. All in all, the app needs major work to justify the $25 a month fee.

It’s not ready

I got this and subscribed to mainly support a “legal” way to watch sumo outside of Japan. It’s not live. It’s not on demand, it just streams the prior day’s coverage starting at different times. Why would anyone pay $30 a month for this when NHK World app has the basically same thing for free and on demand? The other content is fine if you can speak Japanese. I only found one show that had English subtitles. They don’t even have Japanese closed captioning. This app really should be free until it gets basic functionality. Provide live and on demand sumo and I’ll gladly pay and watch the other shows between tournaments. Until then, I’m going back to the alternatives.
