Just the Recipe: Cook smarter 4+

I LOVE this app! I cook a meal from scratch 4-5 days per week and rely on numerous websites for recipe ideas. The frustration I have felt when trying to get through the ads, dozens of photos, personal histories and all the other crap before getting to an ingredient list is enough to make me want to scream. Often I have fresh ingredients on hand and just need to scan a few recipes to get ideas for a menu.
This app allows me to cut and paste the url and, like magic, the recipe appears in a clear and legible format. I paid for the full app which allows me to save and print recipes, too. Many days I have two or three recipes that I’m following at the same time and it can be challenging trying to scroll on my phone while I’m cooking.
The format for the printed recipes is beautiful, simple and clear! The only other app that is comparable to this perfect format is the New York Times cooking app which I have used and loved for years.
I highly recommend this app and appreciate the upgrade which allows edits on recipes (something I constantly do while cooking) and look forward to updates that will allow me to categorize as I save.

I love this app. I cook a lot and I often find recipes online, but it’s easy to lose track of them and it’s annoying to have all the added advertisements and texts and junk. This app makes it easy to keep track of them and easy to read the recipes. I absolutely love it, I gave it four stars instead of five is because it doesn’t save the recipes that you add to it automatically. Sometimes I forget to click the save button after I’ve added the recipe. I add the recipe unless I wanted to save it, so I think this step should be automatic. sometimes I forget to click the button because by my logic I already added it so it should already be saved, but if I forget to tap save I’ve lost a recipe after I added it. it’s nitpicky, but five stars indicate something is perfect and in my opinion it’s not quite perfect. if they made the saving function automatic upon adding the recipe, I would give it five stars.

Regarding automatic saving of recipes, we currently don't have this feature because some users prefer to declutter a recipe for one-time use before deciding to save it permanently. However, your feedback suggests that an optional auto-save feature is a great idea. We'll certainly consider adding this feature to cater to different user preferences. We're committed to making JustTheRecipe even better, and user input like yours is invaluable in this process.

My one suggestion is that I would LOVE to see a feature that let you "add notes" on recipes you save!

In terms of reviewing though, let me be honest: I'm autistic, and sometimes I get overwhelmed very easy. I use my phone in my kitchen because I don't have the counter space for my laptop or tablet. My phone hates recipe websites (it jumps around the page and crashes randomly, which makes me have to refresh and jumps me to the top of the page, and the ads are genuinely overwhelming), and my brain often hates layer after layer of text and filler and the ads.

I used to screenshot recipes on my computer with a dozen layers of Adblock and mineblock on, and send that to my phone to avoid the nightmare that was recipe sites. After learning about this site and app, it's become a vital instrument to cooking and baking, and I'm so, so happy--I've cried over how overwhelmed I've gotten in the kitchen in the past! This saves me from that!

We're currently working on a way to edit recipes, which will support a custom "Notes" section. Keep an eye out for that in the coming months! 😀

UPDATE: The recipe editor is now available. You can now add your own custom notes to saved recipes!
