Amazing app!
I have been looking for a way to save my recipes for years. After making my own physical book, I transitioned to saving recipes on my iPad in my files by using a pdf converter to save web recipes to my device. This was somewhat time consuming and pulled in all of the preamble and comments which could be up to 40 pages of content to scroll through before getting to the actual recipe and then the recipe wasn’t able to be edited without using the edit feature in the files program to cover up then type in my own text. I found this time consuming and frustrating. The My Recipes program pulls in only the recipes and directions from websites and allows you to easily edit them as well as categorize and search based on title. If you purchase the program for a small fee of $5 you can make shopping lists and do meal planning. I have not used these features yet, but I believe they could be an invaluable tool so I purchased the program. I mean, it’s only $5. My time is worth so much more than that. For someone who cooks and bakes a lot, this program is pure heaven.
Formerly (The best ever! Really, I mean it.) Now it’s just OK.
The more I use the “new & improved” RecipeBox, the more I dislike it. It’s almost impossible to input a new recipe. I can’t share a recipe since it won’t show ingredients when sent. I can’t easily search my recipes. Please restore my favorite recipe app.
My original review is below and I meant every word. The new update is awful. I miss that alphabet sidebar for a quick search for a recipe. I just manually entered a recipe and the instructions box wouldn’t accept anything. Having the recipe photo (also a useful search tool and inspiration to try a new saved recipe) reduced to a thumbnail is not very useful. If there is a way to go back to the previous format please let me know how to do that!
I was looking for a recipe app to replace one that started charging. The best change I ever made. RecipeBox gives me the option to import a recipe without a bunch of cut & pasting. I love adding categories to make it easy to find a recipe and have them on my phone while shopping. I love that I can share a recipe with friends (making sure to tell them this is the best recipe app ever). Now that I’ve been using it awhile and most of my foodie friends have started using it, I’m ok paying to access other features and keep RecipeBox going. If you gather recipes to try later or just want to keep that family recipe close at hand, this one will work for you.
Love this App!
Love this app so far! So easy to find recipes and keep them organized for quick review! I’m notorious for screenshotting recipes online and saving them in my camera roll, in which they promptly get lost forever. I love you can port the URL straight from the website into your recipe box. Only suggestion I would make on that front is if there is some way it could intuitively pull only the recipe itself and format it as a recipe card. Currently it just brings up the website itself which is usually a blog so I end up having to scroll and scroll forever to get to the recipe at the bottom. This would also keep the recipe if the website ever goes down or is taken down. I still love it though and it works for now. My last hope is someday integrating with Instacart or one of those online shopping modules so busy mamas like me can port the ingredients straight over to a shopping list and order my groceries. That would be a dream!! Other than those two suggestions I absolutely LOVE this app and it is making my meal planning SO much easier!
