KENWOOD Traffic Powered By INRIX™ is an app that works with your KENWOOD DNX AV Navigation system to help drivers be on time for the important people and events in their lives.
While the DNX AV Navigation system is in navigation mode, it pulls real-time data from INRIX Traffic™ which provides drivers with up-to-the-minute traffic, weather, parking, and travel advisory information. These navigation enhancements provide the most accurate, intuitive and safe navigation experience available today in a moving vehicle.
INRIX is at the forefront of connecting cars to smarter cities. Powering connected car services for companies like Audi, BMW, Ford and Toyota, INRIX delivers insight that helps drivers always know the better way to go. These services help drivers do everything from navigate through their daily traffic, find the closest least expensive fuel, and available parking.

Stupidest programming ever
This thing will come alive to notify when iPhone is connected to your head unit, interrupting whatever you’re doing or listening to—navigating, phone call, podcast. It overrides itself to demand an answer whether to connect. If you grant permission, the full app comes up to show connected, then sits there on the screen and doesn’t recede. You must intervene to go back to what you were doing. Apparently didn’t occur to whoever coded this to make permission sticky; to include an opt-out on the notification, or to have it recede once it informs you it’s connected. At least half the time it won’t register after you give it permission, so you have to go through the routine again. When that happens I kill the app. No good anyway, can’t recall getting useful information on my 994S. Stupid stupid stupid.
INRIX is the reason I’ll not buy Kenwood again.
I upgrade from a DNX694S to a DNX995S for it’s navigation features some time ago.
On a trip to & through Seattle last fall I found the traffic information to be totally useless. The info was so little, and so lagged, it actually proved to be a hindrance. The one time it rerouted me based on traffic data, I ended up behind the traffic I had been in front of. I ended up switching to Google Maps which proved to be extremely more reliable with better real time data.
What’s the use of having this high dollar Kenwood if I have to switch screens to Google Maps for better routing and better traffic data? And doing that, the screen shows only Apple CarPlay stuff.
INRIX has been down for, what, about a month now?
I went back on line for a couple days then down again.
The last time it was down I had hoped for improvements, but it was not to be. They do keep extending the free subscription period but what for what good if it’s useless? And pay for a subscription? Not a chance!
The DNX995S is very good for sound, but so are other brands.
As long as Kenwood stays with INRIX I won’t buy another.
I’ve had this app as long as I’ve had my KENWOOD radio thinking it would help with traffic updates. It works like crap! It constant overrides whatever you’re doing to let you know it’s not connected. You can close the app and it’ll still pop back up repeatedly. More recently I’ve had to delete the app because while in my paid subscription time the app logged out and will not recognize my account. I can’t create a new account because I already have an account. I don’t know if this app even does anything with my radio! It’s bothersome and annoying! You can’t turn notifications off at all. And once it gets into a cycle of trying to connect to the radio IT WILL NOT STOP OR CONNECT.
