Start a focused digital-rain screensaver on one display or all of them, with saved appearances and optional automatic start.
Kernel Rain is a matrix-style digital-rain screensaver companion for your Mac. Choose Start Screensaver for a focused, borderless presentation on your main display or across all connected displays. Press any key, click, scroll, or move the pointer to dismiss the presentation.
Every stream has its own size, speed, rhythm, brightness, and trail. Bright leading symbols pull softly fading ribbons of custom glyphs across a deep black background.
Make it yours:
• Choose from seven distinct built-in appearances
• Preview any appearance immediately, then save, update, rename, and delete your own named appearances
• Adjust speed, density, trail length and brightness, color, glow, flicker, micro-glitches, and stream variance
• Present on the main display or all connected displays
• Optionally rotate through built-in and saved appearances
• Optionally start after 1, 5, 10, or 15 minutes of inactivity
Automatic start is off by default. When enabled, Kernel Rain stays available in the menu bar after its preferences window closes. Your Mac’s sleep and lock settings continue to apply.
Kernel Rain is a standalone app. It does not install or replace the macOS system screen saver, and it does not lock or secure your Mac. It supports Apple silicon and Intel Macs and has no accounts, advertising, analytics, tracking, or subscriptions. Settings and saved appearances stay on your Mac.
