KeyType Pro is a professional iOS keyboard extension built for people who type symbols more often than emoji. If you write papers, lab reports, lecture slides, clinical notes, financial models, engineering specs, or design docs, you already know the pain: the system keyboard hides mathematical, scientific, and technical symbols behind long-press menus or nowhere at all. KeyType Pro puts them one tap away inside WeChat, Notes, Notion, Pages, Word, Excel, Safari, Mail, Obsidian, or any app that accepts text.
One keyboard, nine professional worlds. KeyType Pro organizes 30+ subjects into a clean three-level structure: Domain, Subject, Direction. The nine domains include Science (mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology), Earth and Space (geology, astronomy, meteorology), Engineering and Technology (computer science, electronics, mechanical, civil), Medicine and Health (clinical symbols, pharmacy, anatomy markers), Humanities and Social Sciences (linguistics, philosophy, law, history), Business and Finance (currency, accounting, statistics, economics), Arts and Design (typography, music, architecture marks), Specialised Industries (units, standards, trademarks, logistics), and General Symbols (arrows, brackets, bullets, punctuation, dingbats). Tap Science, Mathematics, Calculus and you land on partial derivative, nabla, infinity, limit, sum, integral, contour integral. Tap Medicine, Clinical, Vitals and get degrees Celsius, millimetre of mercury, microlitre, female, male, prescription, delta. No menu diving. No copying from Wikipedia.
Why professionals keep it enabled. Three-level navigation lets you jump from domain to subject to sub-direction in two taps, while recent and favorite symbols surface automatically. The system-wide keyboard extension works in every non-secure text field exactly like Apple custom keyboard extensions do. Customisable in the host app, you enable only the subjects you use; a linguist does not need circuit diagrams, and a quant does not need phonetic brackets. Optimised for iPhone and iPad, larger key grids appear on iPad with a thumb-friendly layout on iPhone, supporting light and dark appearance. A search fallback lets you type nabla or micro and the symbol appears even if you forgot which category it lives in. Favorites and recents pin partial derivative, beta, sum, greater than or equal to the top row after first use.

Privacy-first by design. KeyType Pro runs as a standard iOS keyboard extension. It does not require network access to type characters, does not log keystrokes, and does not transmit what you type. Full Access, if offered for theme sync or iCloud backup, is optional and clearly explained in-settings; symbol insertion itself works fully offline.
Setup takes 20 seconds. Install KeyType Pro. Go to Settings, General, Keyboard, Keyboards, Add New Keyboard, KeyType Pro. Open any app, tap the Globe key, switch to KeyType Pro. Pick your domains once, type symbols everywhere. Note: like all iOS third-party keyboards, KeyType Pro is automatically suspended by the system on password and phone-number fields for security; your bank app falls back to the system keyboard, which is expected.
