Description

The app uses an instructional approach to teach how to read and spell words. It helps to decode words by recognising the individual phonemes and blending them together.

The CVC Words app uses a phonics based instructional approach used in early language education to teach how to read and spell words. It helps to decode words by recognising the individual phonemes and blending them together.

Practicing this app regularly helps students learn how to decode words by recognising the individual letters and blending them together. For example, students learn that the letter "b" represents the /b/ sound, and the letter "a" represents the /æ/ sound, so when they see the letters "b" and "a" together, they can sound out the word "bat."

A star is given for every word completion that indicates the number of times a specific word is formed during practice. Stars can be reset at any time.

This app also improves vocabulary and promotes phonetic learning. The app is ideal to be practiced in the classroom and is equally beneficial to be practiced in the home.

The app consumes a very small amount of disk space, thus can be kept in the device for as long as required.

Clean & animated interface, beautiful relative images, studio quality voiceover and a handful selection of words makes it perfect for an ideal learning app.

English as a second language…

…is what you’ll learn here. The consonants are not pronounced correctly for American English but perhaps in India, this would work. I like the idea of the app but it would teach the wrong consonant sounds for Western English.

Developer Response ,

You need better argument than eastern and western English comparison. We consider such comments into racist category. Children often adapts different styles and accents but that doesn’t limit their learning ability. Demo was provided so you could make a purchase decision. Learn to appreciate things in your life.

Phonics are taught like this where letters are spoken with initial sounds. It is a common practice in schools. Kindly Google it to learn more about it.

We appreciate your time, if possible kindly update the rating once you understand why the app is created like this.

Thanks and regards.

Letters are pronounced incorrectly

I like the concept of the app, but the child sounding out the letters isn’t sounding them out correctly. She or he is making a ‘d’ sound with the letter ‘r.’ They’re also making ‘d’ sound with the letter ‘t.’ It seems as though English is a second language for the child sounding out the words and letters. If I’m having my children practice letter sounds through this app and they’re practicing them incorrectly, it defeats the purpose. Also…the half naked fat guy illustration for ‘fat’ is a little inappropriate.

Developer Response ,

Phonic sounds were a bit unexpectedly different when the sound was recorded and amplified. The R you are complaining is among those few.

The main idea is to use the app as a learning aid for parents and teachers. Provide suitable words with pictures. Getting the maximum suitable words are itself a challenge.

We also didn’t like the fat guy picture but at the moment we couldn’t come up with anything better. We’d surely update it.

We welcome critics to our BETA program where you can tryout complete apps during updates.

Thanks you for your time :)
