Legacy View makes setting up and monitoring your Chandler Systems water treatment system easier than ever! This App covers systems sold under Chandler Systems' three brands (CSI, Clearion and WaterSoft) that use the Legacy View Valve. When used with a Legacy View Valve the user, through the app, can do the following functions:

- Conveniently view all valve settings and status.
- Easily change valve settings.
- View current water usage information.
- Graphically view water usage information.
- Start a regeneration or backwash cycle from your phone or tablet.
- Set / view the servicing water treatment dealer information.
- Better understand how your system is working and understand what settings are for.
- Connect to all of your valves in your system from one tablet or phone.
- Update firmware on Bluetooth LE valves
- Manage your connection to your valves.

Note: This app is only compatible with Chandler Systems valves that have a revision number greater or equal to “C2.00”. These valves use Bluetooth 4.0+ (a.k.a. Bluetooth LE) to communicate and require smartphones or tablets to also have Bluetooth LE to use the features in this app. All recently manufactured Apple devices are Bluetooth LE compatible. Check your device specifications if you are unsure of it's compatibility.

(The firmware revision of the valve can be viewed on the valve display for 2 seconds after the valve is powered up.)

App works great

After initially having Bluetooth connection issues, I called CSI and they were able to solve the issue which required me to power down the water softener, remove the 9v battery, uninstall and then reinstall app. After following those steps the problem was resolved and I am happy with the system, it works fine and now I am able to get all the numbers I need.

Makes managing water consumption easy

The app has worked well on my iPhone SE and now SE (2020) since I installed my water softener about 6 months ago. It connects to the softener’s 5900BT head even when I’m well outside the house and generally makes it easy to schedule backwashes, etc. Only one complaint, and the reason I give it four stars: the ‘average water usage per day’ displayed is way off for some reason. I can see my daily usage in the chart, which is generally ~650 liters per day (this seems about right), but the average consistently shows around 2250 L even after many months of use.

Notifications enhancement

So far the app reflects the usage well.

One feature I would like to see, if the water usage is continuous for about an hour or a user defined time period , app notification alert would help check if there is something within the house leaking. I had this problem where the toilet sink water was running all night and ended up wasting a lot of natural resources 🙈😌. Please have this in future release. That would do a lot more good to the world.

Regarding the alerts. Alerts with a Bluetooth connected valve are difficult, since Bluetooth works with a direct connection to the phone. If the phone is not in range of the Bluetooth valve, it is not possible to send the notification. We try to accomplish an alert for low salt, but that is not a time critical alert, as you normally have many days or weeks to refill the salt before being completely out. You cannot get the alert until your phone is in range of the softener, and then the app "looks" for the valve only once a half hour. We have contemplated making a Bluetooth valve that can automatically shutoff your water, but there is a fine line between being useful and helping a customer save their water, and being a nuisance. This also could not be just a future software release as it would take a piston that can shut the water off. We will continue to think about ways that we can innovate in this area.
