Description

Linked Ideas is an application to assist you in your note taking and "putting your mind" on the canvas.

The thought process of people can be quite chaotic we have similar "bits" of ideas and connections between them, with Linked Ideas, you can add them in a free-form canvas, not limited in a top-to-bottom approach like a normal text editor, but instead have canvas where you add your ideas wherever you want and then you can easily connect them.

One of the main differences of Linked Ideas in relation to conventional mind mapping tools is that ideas don't need to be added and related in a tree-like fashion, where there cannot be loops or different groups of ideas, so then, when connecting ideas the predominant concepts will appear naturally ordered instead of ordering them before hand in a hierarchy.

Linked Ideas documents can be easily stored in iCloud and shared in multiple computers.

Features:

- add/edit/remove concepts and links
- add text explanations to links
- edit the format of the concepts with some useful keyboard shortcuts
- zoom and pan the whole ideas document
- added some options for alignment and organization of groups of concepts.

Linked Ideas is an open source application, whose code can be found at http://fespinoza.github.io/LinkedIdeas/

What’s New

Version 1.2.0

2 main changes in this version:

- when you are typing a new concept, clicking outside won't lose the changes to the concept you were writing
- you can option+drag a single or a group of concepts to duplicate, this will also duplicate their styles

Other than that small maintenance update

HOORAY FOR FREEDOM!

No bugs yet! I had to go through the 4-slide tutorial a few times, but everything works as it should!
The one thing I would want is to be able to have more arrow options, such as resizing the arrows, having split arrows, the option to add a colorable box or bubble behind or bounding a concept.
Mostly, I just want the arrows to be able to branch and stem, have two-way pointing arrows, and coloring the arrows.
If the lack of these options is what makes this extremely simple app free, I would prefer it remain as it is.
I say this because it is literally the ONLY FREE (and user-friendly) MIND MAP / FLOW CHART creator on the ENTIRE app store that I could find. And it's only 6 days old!

Very cool idea and awesome developer

This application appeals to me for its simplicity. I've never found concept maps or mind maps to work but this application allows me to just get ideas out onto a canvas where I can then rearrange and connect nodes to demonstrate connections.

Thank you to Felipe for working on this and responding to bug reports quickly.

Great and super useful app..!

First of all, I love this app. I just had a feature request for future releases. it would be great if I could do Ctrl Find to search (text) through the myriad of nodes I've created. Thank you

Developer Response ,

Hi, thanks for your kind words.

Right now it’s not possible to make the canvas “unlimited” in the current implementation, but sounds like a good feature suggestion.
