Out of all the apps that require you to pay a subscription for full access, this is the only one that i think deserves the money. Every lesson is made with helpful examples and they're organized well so you can go down the lists of each category at your own pace. The repetition of reading the furigana, writing the character out, placing the characters in the correct order and matching them to the right words in english is so much more beneficial than other apps i've used, as it has helped me to retain the words better. If you're looking for an app that will really push to help you memorize vocabulary, this is the one.Their other app, Bunpo, is also incredible for grammar!! It has the same methods of teaching + there are languages other than Japanese. Overall, the creators behind these apps know what they're doing.(Note: The N5 Lesson 9 under the category 'things' is bugged, I can't complete it during the review because it won't allow my keyboard to pop up.)

I’m enjoying the app and the way vocabulary is drilled per lesson works well for me. I find the example sentences and kanji explanations particularly helpful. The mnemonic sentences don’t do much for me, but sometimes I will reference them. I would love an option to breakdown kanji further into their radicals and parts if it lends itself to the definition. As a mnemonic device, it helps me more to understand them that way: like seeing rain 雨 in snow 雪 and electricity 電気. I would also love a better spaced repetition, as the reviews feel sparse and don’t seem to bring up the same words often enough. Overall I love the app, and I use it as my primary one for vocabulary (after having tried many apps before.) I paid to unlock everything and it’s worth the money! Thanks for the hard work!

Edit: it seems that I was just not able to reach certain lessons unless I have made enough progress, even if I have restored my purchase. I have added a star back. However, I would like to point out that when I tapped on the locked lessons, it showed me the “restore purchase” screen, which was why I originally thought my purchase could not be restored. It would be great if the developer can make it so that it shows a “you have not made enough progress to unlock this lesson” message instead.I like the content of the new update, BUT: - I cannot seem to restore my purchase (I paid for lifetime subscription and now it’s gong). Many words are locked. - the progress reset is frustrating. I lost all my progress, lost track what was the last words I learned, and now I have to learn from lesson1 again because the later lessons are locked. Honestly, I love this app but right now I am very upset.

As described in the review by Bruhwhytf, the bug that marks any typed responses as incorrect continues at least two months later. This is unacceptable, because it can greatly mess up your ability to master words and also messes up your spaced repetition algorithm. Otherwise the app is very nice.Update to review:I’m giving this app five stars now because the developer fixed the bugs I experienced and also upgraded the quality of the app. I love the developer’s Bunpo app as well, and using this one for vocabulary is a no brainer for me. The value provided on both of these apps is huge, because you would have to pay a lot more using other more traditional options. Thanks for the awesome apps!
