Lost Lands V (F2P‪)‬ 9+

I love the Lost Lands Adventure games. Beautiful graphics, wonderful characters, and challenging puzzles. They are the very best of the HOP Adventure genre. But having to buy coins to play changes the whole nature of the play experience. One reason I love these games is because money is worthless in them. You might find a treasure room full of gold and gems, but what’s of real value in that room is a screwdriver. Part of the fantasy is that the games disrupt our normal sense of what is valuable. So when in the fifth game, Susan has to find moeny to buy things from the village store—something she’s never had to do before, and when the player has to spend actual money to buy coins, it ruins that fantasy. Here’s how it works. There is a map, but the locations where actions are available are not indicated. In Lost Lands, you need to travel among 50 or so locations. It’s impossible to keep track of without the map showing you where actions are. So you have to pay for hints in order to find out where you need to go. Since I have always tried to play these games without using hints or skips, I really, really hated having to buy hints!! Between paying for hints, skipping the occasional minigame, and paying for the bonus chapter, you end up paying much more than the Full version costs. (Which is, of course, why they’ve changed to the so-called free-to-play model). The developer says you can buy the full, prepaid version, which I would most happily do, but they are not listed in the Mac App store. So where do you buy them???!!!

I love Five-BN games, beautiful graphics and long play time. I have bought many of their games each for a one time purchase price. This game requires multiple purchases of coins to keep going, they lost me this time.

Hi. It's how it works. The main chapter is available for free, but the bonus chapter is for purchase. The price of the bonus chapter unlock is much lower than the full version price. Also, the use of the “Hint” and “Skip” buttons costs coins, which can be purchased from the store. Good for players who are up to challenge and like solving puzzles. You need the Full version, if you like the one-time purchase. Have a good day.
