What’s New

Version 1.7.0

We finally did it... it seems we managed to fix the bug that caused the icon in the status bar to crash (infinitely load) without the possibility of exiting the app.

We also listened to your suggestions and added the ability to customize the keyboard shortcut for the toggle directly from the About page.

Does not work for Airpods Max

Don't want to give you a bad first review but it doesn't work for airpods max :/

Developer Response ,

Let's be honest, unfortunately we haven't tested it on the AirPods Max. It seems that the AirPods Max have a different firmware from the AirPods which does not allow you to use these features. We will definitely do a check and if possible the integration we will release an update. Thanks for the tip

Great little app!

App works great! With the release of macOS Sequoia, Apple enabled the ability to have full quality audio listening while using the mic on AirPod Pro 2’s. Prior to this the listening sound quality would be degraded. With this feature upgrade, I wanted to use my AirPods for gaming now. As such I use Discord to voice chat with friends and family and unfortunately, it does not support the AirPods’ squeeze to mute feature. With MutePod, now I have it! Even if Discord is not the front-facing app, it still works. I have my game full screen (World of Warcraft in my case) and MutePods still mutes the mice across the entire system. Even the notifications pop up over the game so I know when the app mutes the mic properly.

A couple of things I noticed just be aware of. So because Discord does not support the AirPods’ mic muting it does not know when MutePod has done its thing. So people in the chat with you will not “see” that you are muted even though they won’t hear you. But the mic IS muted so it’s not providing audio to Discord. Not a big deal, but worth being aware of.

Also trying it with Microsoft Teams it does seem to compete with Teams’ own support for the squeeze to mute feature. I found that when Teams and MutePod are running together, neither will mute the mic. Easy fix is just shut off MutePod. Also, if MutePod is running, it does seem like your mic is hot (or on) all the time. If this bothers you, or are concerned about battery life, just keep the app off until you need it. That’s what I’ve done.

Other than those few caveats, MutePod does exactly what I need it to do. Thank you!
