Now searches restaurant menus and store brands, so a Chick-fil-A order logs with the chain's own numbers. Powered by fatsecret nutrition API. MacroJournal is a food journal built for people who want to know what they ate without fighting their phone about it. FAST LOGGING Search a food database, scan a barcode on packaged food, or type it in manually. Save any meal as a template and log it again in one tap. Recent and frequent meals stay within reach, and templates can be searched and starred. YOUR NUMBERS, YOUR GOALS Set protein, carbs, fat, and calorie targets yourself, or walk through a short setup that suggests them. Track body weight and measurements over time if you want to; ignore all of it if you don't. If you'd rather just keep a record of what you ate with no targets at all, there's a journaling mode that does exactly that and nothing more. OPTIONAL AI ESTIMATES Describe a meal in plain language, or take a photo of it, and get a macro estimate back. This feature requires your own Anthropic API key, which you create for free at console.anthropic.com and enter in Settings. There is no subscription and no in-app purchase — you use your own key and pay your own usage directly to Anthropic. Every other feature works without one. STAYS ON YOUR PHONE There is no account, no login, and no server. Your meals, goals, weight, and measurements are stored on your device. The developer never receives your data and cannot see any of it. If you add an API key, meal text or photos you choose to estimate go from your phone directly to Anthropic under your own key. APPLE HEALTH Optionally read your workouts and active energy so training shows up alongside what you ate. Read-only — MacroJournal never writes to Health. WIDGETS Put today's totals on your home screen. MacroJournal is a food journal and is not a medical device. It does not provide medical, nutritional, or treatment advice, and its estimates are approximations. Talk to a qualified professional about decisions regarding your health or diet. Restaurant and branded food data powered by fatsecret nutrition API (www.fatsecret.com). Generic food data from USDA FoodData Central.

This is a big one — a crash fix, a search fix, and Mac finally doing something. FIXED: THE APP CRASHING WHEN YOU ADJUSTED AMOUNTS Opening "Adjust amount" on one item and then a second made the keyboard's Done button vanish, and submitting after that crashed the app. Both halves were the same mistake on my end. If this is why you stopped using it, come back. FIXED: FOOD SEARCH COULDN'T FIND STORE BRANDS "H-E-B", "Quest", any store brand — these returned nothing useful, because the app only asked USDA for generic foods. It searches branded products now, with real serving sizes off the package. "chicken breast" still gives the generic entry first, not a wall of deli meat. MAC TALKS NOW Daily and weekly analysis used to be a paragraph. Mac reads it to you instead, a line at a time, in a dialogue box. Tap to skip, tap to continue. There's a "Read all at once" link if you'd rather just read it. XP, LEVELS, AND DRESSING MAC UP XP comes from logging a day, logging every meal in one, hitting protein, and weighing in. Nothing gives XP for eating less or losing weight — deliberate. As you level up Mac grows: a sprout, deeper belly band, warmer cheeks, steam. Tap Mac on the Today tab for his wardrobe: body colours, bands, hats, tags and gear (bottle, dumbbell, kettlebell, basketball, bike, loaded barbell). Things unlock at levels, not randomly, so you can see what you're working toward. Nothing costs money. No leaderboards, no sharing — your progress is yours. POKE AT THE WEIGHT GRAPH Drag across the weight or waist chart and it marks the entry you're over, showing the date, the number, and that day's 7-day average. Tap the box to dismiss. Easier than squinting at a dot. YOU CAN GO BACK AND FILL IN A MISSED DAY Weigh-ins and waist both have a date now. Forgot Tuesday morning? Pick Tuesday and enter it. The Body tab shows which days you missed. Matters more than it sounds — the 7-day average is the number worth watching, and gaps pull it. ADDING A PRODUCT, AND LOGGING IT Settings -> Nutrition Facts -> My Products -> +. Type what's on the label and the app uses your numbers for it from then on, ahead of any estimate. No API key needed to record a label any more. And you can log them now — search on the Today tab and they come up first, or use the new Products tab in Log a Meal. One tap. Before, a saved product only did anything if you described it to the AI closely enough to match. "My SKUs" is "My Products" now, because nobody could find it. RESTAURANT FOOD SEARCH Food search now checks a restaurant and brand database alongside USDA, so "Chick-fil-A grilled nuggets" returns the chain's published numbers (130 cal, 25g protein for an 8-count) instead of a generic fried-nugget guess that came out nearly three times too high. Results group as: your saved products, then restaurants and brands, then USDA. Serving weights come through too where the restaurant publishes them, so "Adjust amount" can work in grams on a menu item, not just whole servings. Restaurant and branded food data powered by fatsecret nutrition API. NEW AND BARELY TESTED — IMPORT A NUTRITION PDF Settings -> Nutrition Facts -> Import Nutrition PDF pulls every item from a restaurant's nutrition PDF into My Products at once. I haven't tested this much and it spends your own API tokens — start with a short PDF, check a few rows before saving, and tell me if it does anything odd. MOST USEFUL TO HEAR ABOUT - The amount editor. Open it on two or three different items in a row. Does the Done button stay? Does anything crash? - Food search. Search for things you actually buy. Are the results closer now? - Mac talking. Better than the old block of text, or just slower? - Dragging on the weight graph. Does it follow your finger properly? - Anything about the XP that feels pointless or naggy. AI features need your own Anthropic API key (Settings -> API Keys; instructions in the app). Everything else works without one. Your data stays on your phone.
