I think it’s great. I can talk to AI people in real time. I can push the button over & over to hear the pronunciation of what they say until my ear is satisfied. I have the option to have the translated text written or not so i can test myself at my own discretion. No app is perfect but this one is amazing IMO. Holler at me if y’all want deeper feedback I got some ideas

I like the idea but the Avatar conversations in the app are not nearly as impressive as the ones in the ads: the avatar is slow and the mouth doesn’t actually pronounce the words like they do on the ad. Also I ran into a lot of bugs: like the fact that the “record” feature on the pronunciation evaluation never stays on the first time I press it, so I press it a second time, and it appears to stay on, but the actual recording that it saves is the first split-second recording that aborted.

It would be great if the conversation speed could be adjusted directly from the conversation. So as I progress I could increase the speed and then slow it down if I got into unfamiliar territory.

Also, in the avatar conversation. There is sometimes a word that I don’t understand. It would be nice if I could tap it for translation to English.

The product itself is really cool. It makes you feel like you’re having an actual conversation with a speaker of the chosen language. The company however does not send an email reminding people of the renewal, and when I reached out ON THE DAY THE MONEY WAS CHARGED, and explained that I was aware that was my responsibility but I couldn’t afford it, instead of simply saying no, I was given a lengthy multi-paragraph lecture on consumer responsibilities by customer service agent Emily Smith. It was unnecessary as I’d already expressed my understanding, but she felt it was important. I could never recommend this service- I’ve never had an app that didn’t send a reminder about upcoming renewals, and I think it’s a poor business tactic.

After all of this, the customer service rep wrote back that times are difficult and they could offer me a partial refund. This was only AFTER they lectured me on personal responsibility. The company can’t be that great- they can’t afford the loss.
