Ratings and Reviews
App seems buggy but off to good start
I’ve always disliked links that send me to Google Maps, so this is a great idea. I downloaded it to my iPhone and ipad. I had to turn off and on the settings several times, but for now, it’s mostly working. I’ve had a few links that open on Google Maps still instead of Apple Maps.
Once the bugs are fixed, and developer figures out a way to get maps in Facebook (on Safari) to open on Apple Maps as well, I’ll come back and raise it to 5.
Simply does its Job!
This extension JUST works! It does exactly as it says, there’s nothing more and nothing less. Great solution for fixing something that is a small but major inconvenience in (iOS-Google/google maps web api) when viewing any native google web api and just want to quickly have any place you were looking open natively in Apple Maps. Saves me the frustration and 15 seconds of having to go back and copy the address and then open the Apple maps app and paste the address I was viewing just to get directions. Not one too normally leave reviews but just wanted to let others know how it is worth every penny and 10x more. I’d give it an 11/10 stars if I could.
Privacy concerns
An awesome feature that should be a part of the operating system. My one issue is regarding the extensions is the requirement for access to all website data. Other similar extensions request data for specific websites being redirected, which is how it should be for this app as well.
Update: if the access to all website data is left at “ask”, specific websites can be picked allowed to be accessed by this extension without giving it access to all websites. Thank you for the response!
Developer Response ,
Hi, I understand your concerns with allowing any app to access every website you visit. The reason Mapper requests access to all websites is because Google has hundreds of different domain names for different countries. If I limit access to only google.com, then the extension won’t function properly on google.co.uk, google.fr, etc. Unfortunately this is the only way to deal with this problem until Apple provides a better way for extensions to handle this. When you initially enable the extension, you are able to “Always Allow on This Website,” which will achieve the setting you would like. If you’d like help setting this up, or have any other questions, please reach out using the support button within the app, and I would be happy to help. Thank you.
