Convert long PDFs, scans, and folders into reusable Markdown and JSON on your Mac. Two local OCR engines. One-time purchase, no subscription. Convert long PDFs, scanned pages, and a selected folder's supported documents into reviewable Markdown and optional JSON — locally on your Apple Silicon Mac. Ten-page processing chunks, clean-chunk checkpoints, and page-level issue reports make long conversions recoverable. A difficult page normally does not discard the rest of the PDF: Markdown Ready continues, marks the affected page, and records the issue for review. Choose GLM-OCR for a fast local path or PaddleOCR-VL for Korean, dense layouts, tables, and complex pages. Select one or more files, drag supported files into the menu-bar window, or choose one folder for a non-recursive batch. Direct PDF chat is convenient for a quick question or summary. Markdown Ready serves a different need: convert once, keep an inspectable local file, and reuse the same output across chat services, local models, notes, wikis, RAG, and archives. The two OCR models are bundled with the app. PDFs, JPG/JPEG scans, and PNG screenshots are processed on device and written to an output folder you choose. No cloud OCR API is required for model loading or conversion, and Markdown Ready does not upload document contents. Folder batch workflows are supported: place supported PDFs or document images directly in a folder, select it as the input folder, choose an output folder, and click Start. Markdown Ready scans the selected folder once per run; subfolders are ignored and the app does not continuously watch for new files. Recommended configuration: an Apple Silicon Mac with 16 GB unified memory or more. 8 GB Macs are not currently validated or supported for the bundled vision-language models. Because conversion runs locally, large PDFs and folder batches can use sustained CPU/GPU and unified memory. The first conversion can take longer while the selected model loads; timing varies by Mac, page count, layout, and engine. For long conversions, keep your Mac connected to power. Accuracy note: OCR is not perfect. Markdown Ready can make mistakes, especially with complex tables, formulas, handwriting, historical documents, screenshots, and low-quality scans. Review important output before using it in research, legal, finance, medical, or production workflows. Use documents responsibly. Process only documents you are authorized to use and follow applicable copyright and other laws. Markdown Ready is built to improve over time. Model and conversion-pipeline updates will focus on better structure preservation, cleaner reading order, stronger table handling, and more complete conversion.
