MathHike
Explore Math and Code
Free · Designed for iPad. Not verified for macOS.
Explore a kingdom of mathematics and programming: interactive graphs, Julia experiments, Fortran lessons, virtual computers for hands-on learning. Coding is not boring!!
Welcome to MathHike, a kingdom where mathematics and programming become an expedition.
Explore cabins, laboratories and campsites filled with interactive experiments. Change parameters, test ideas, write code and connect the mathematics you study with computations you can see.
EXPLORE MATHEMATICS
Investigate functions and graphs in Nivalis, explore regression, and compare theoretical probabilities with experimental frequencies. Visit the Emperor Fortran Palace for numerical experiments, including a boundary value lesson and a solar differential rotation activity.
EXPERIMENT WITH JULIA
Enter expressions in the Julia Cabin and view results in its terminal. The included Julia plotting environment supports the tested line, scatter and histogram workflows. Switch between Terminal and Graphics, zoom and pan a graph, and export a plot as a PNG. The mobile environment uses an included plotting profile; it does not provide every desktop Julia package or plotting backend.
WRITE, TRANSFER AND TEST CODE
Use the Fortran Ballroom and C Guest Room to explore examples and prepare your own programs. Move source files through the Backpack to the included RISC-V Linux twin in TinyEMU, where its installed compilers can build and run them. The Backpack keeps your projects together and supports file import and export.
EXPLORE VIRTUAL COMPUTERS
Visit the QEMU Tipi Lab and boot the included MINIX learning image. Experiment with compatible disk images and discover how a computer starts, loads an operating system and responds to commands.
DISCOVER THE MATHEMATICS OF MEDIA
Visit Queen Julia's treasure collection for regression and the Movie Workshop. Explore how changing a movie's resolution and encoding affects its size and appearance. Native media tools handle the movie workflow separately from Julia's plotting environment.
TAKE A STORY BREAK
Browse the Chronicles of Emperor Fortran and Queen Julia, explore the kingdom map, or enjoy a nature break between experiments.
Core lessons and bundled tools are designed for offline study after installation. Downloads and external links require an internet connection. Imported operating system images and programs must be compatible with their selected emulator. AI-generated answers can contain mistakes; verify important results and use the tools as companions to your learning.
