The weeks go by and nothing memorable happens. MemoryRoute keeps your ideas, makes it easy to plan them, live them and re-experience them.
Ideas for trips and experiences arrive in bursts, usually at a moment when you can't act on one. The motivation fades, the idea is forgotten, and then a free weekend arrives and you can't think of anything to do. Meanwhile months pass without much in them worth remembering, and you don't notice until they're gone.
MemoryRoute does three things about that.
CATCH AN IDEA IN FIVE SECONDS
Type a sentence, press return. It becomes an idea with sensible defaults and no follow-up questions. Anything that adds friction here would defeat the point.
SHOW THE EMPTY STRETCHES WHILE THEY CAN STILL BE FILLED
A calendar at three zoom levels: a month, a year as twelve tiles, and every year you've used the app. One glance tells you which months are alive and which are dead space.
Underneath it, one line that says what is actually true — "Nothing at all for the next 26 days", or "5 of your next 8 weekends are empty". It is a nudge, never a scold. No streaks, no guilt, nothing turns red.
RESURFACE THE RIGHT IDEA AT THE RIGHT MOMENT
Bored on a Saturday? Two questions — how much time, how much money — and three ideas that fit, filtered by what the season allows.
Some experiences have a door that shuts. An idea whose season is closing rises to the top of the list with the number of days it has left, so you find out before it closes rather than after.
THEN KEEP WHAT HAPPENED
A logbook of what you actually did, with a rating and a line written afterwards. Bring in the photographs you took that day and the entry plays back as a story.
You can send that story to someone. They can open it whether or not they have the app.
STARTING FROM NOTHING
An empty app has nothing to browse and nothing to match against. Answer three questions — what pulls you in, how far you would go, where you are based — and get ten proposed experiences to keep or throw away. They range deliberately, from twenty minutes from your door to the other side of the world.
ON PRIVACY, PLAINLY
There is nothing to sign up for, no analytics, no telemetry and no advertising.
Your ideas and plans sync between your devices through your own iCloud account, which we cannot read. Photographs stay in your photo library — MemoryRoute stores a reference to each one, never a copy, so a fortnight abroad costs a few dozen characters rather than a few gigabytes.
Sharing a story is the one thing that uploads. The photographs you tick are encrypted on your device before they leave, the key travels in the part of a link that browsers never send to a server, and the copy deletes itself after thirty days. What is hosted is something we have no way to read.
Two features reach a server at all: the idea proposals, which go to Google's Gemini, and story sharing. Everything else runs on your device.
Mirroring your plans out to a calendar is off until you turn it on, and it never reads what is already in your calendar.
