Batch file dates and authors

Fix wrong created and modified dates across hundreds of files at once, and edit the author details stored inside PDFs, photos and Office documents.
Scanned photos that all say today. Downloads that lost their original dates. A folder restored from a backup where every file claims the same timestamp. Meta Data Modifier fixes all of it in one pass.
Drop in files and folders, choose what the dates should be, and see exactly what will change before anything is written.
THREE WAYS TO SET DATES
• Set date and time — write an exact date to every selected file, down to the second.
Change only the date and keep each file's existing time, or only the time and keep the date.
• Adjust by — shift dates forward or backward by days, hours, minutes or seconds. Perfect for a camera that was set to the wrong time zone. Measured from each file's original
date, so applying twice never shifts twice.
• Sequence — stamp files a fixed interval apart, in the order shown in the list. Ideal for putting a scanned album back into the right order.
You can change the created date, the modified date and the last-opened date, independently or together, and copy one onto another in a single step.
AUTHOR AND CREATOR
macOS has no filesystem-level author, so these values live inside the document itself.
Meta Data Modifier reads and writes them where they actually are:
• Office documents (.docx, .xlsx, .pptx) — author, last modified by, title, subject, creator tool, and the document's own created and modified dates.
• Photos and images — EXIF, IPTC and XMP artist, copyright, title and capture date, written without ever re-encoding the image.
• PDFs — author, title, subject and creator.
• Text and everything else (.txt, .md, .xml) — stored in macOS extended attributes, so a Markdown file's text is never rewritten.
• Legacy Office files (.doc, .xls, .ppt) — readable, so you can see who made them.
Select several files at once and a field that differs shows "Multiple values" and is left alone unless you actually edit it.
BUILT FOR BATCHES
• Drop files and folders together; set how deep folders are scanned.
• Include or exclude any row, with select all, none and invert.
• Sort by name, date or size using the same natural ordering as Finder, so "Scan 2" comes before "Scan 10".
• Filter a long list by name.
• Everything runs in the background with a progress bar and a cancel button.
• Undo restores the previous state, including the original file when document metadata was rewritten.
• A log window records anything that failed and exports as JSON.
HONEST ABOUT LIMITS
A built-in reference shows exactly which fields can be changed for every file type, and which cannot. Two dates can never be written by any app: the attribute-change date, which the system updates on its own, and Finder's "Date Added", which lives in the volume's index. They are shown, clearly marked read-only, rather than quietly ignored.
PRIVATE BY DESIGN
Meta Data Modifier has no network access at all and collects nothing. It only ever touches the files you drop on the window or pick yourself.
