Turn any camera into a powerful microscopy tool — from USB cameras to iPhone and NDI sources. With measurements, layers, and AI-driven analysis. Microscope Camera is a professional macOS tool for microscopy work that combines image capture, precise measurements, layer-based annotation, and intelligent analysis powered by AI. The app is designed for researchers, educators, laboratories, microscopy enthusiasts, and anyone working with microscopic samples who needs a reliable, flexible, and modern environment. Microscope Camera works with any camera supported by macOS, with devices streaming over the NDI protocol, and with the iPhone camera through a companion iOS app, Microscope Camera Remote — unlocking the full potential of iPhone optics for microscopy. This versatility means you can start with the equipment you already own and grow your setup over time. Fine-tune your live view to fit each sample with controls for scale, brightness, contrast, saturation, gamma, white balance, individual RGB channels, canvas flipping, and anti-flicker. Adjustments apply in real time, which matters when observing living or dynamic specimens. At the core of the app is a powerful layer system for annotation and measurement. Rectangles, circles, lines, pointer lines, text, polygons, T-shaped lines, angles, arcs, and crosses let you precisely describe what you see directly on captured frames or live view. A calibrated ruler combined with layers enables accurate physical size and area measurements, and objective presets allow you to switch instantly between calibrations for different magnifications. Standard copy, cut, paste, undo, and redo commands, together with full control over layer parameters — scale, rotation, position, size, fill and stroke colors, line thickness, text, and visibility — make editing feel familiar to anyone used to standard graphic tools. Microscope Camera integrates leading AI assistants — Claude, Grok, Gemini and ChatGPT — directly into your workflow. In a text prompt you can reference any layer by enclosing its identifier in curly braces { }, and the AI returns a detailed report while automatically creating POI (point of interest) layers that mark the described objects or zones on your image. Frequently used prompts can be saved as presets in a dedicated panel for instant access. Record live video from the camera or save individual frames together with their current layers, canvas settings, and AI chat history, so you can return to any moment of your investigation with full context. For long-term observation, automatic periodic frame capture is perfect for time-lapse analysis of how a sample changes over time. Export frames with or without layers to the Photos library or as standalone image files. Work is organized into projects, each stored as its own folder containing frames, recordings, and exported files, keeping materials from different studies cleanly separated. Voice control frees your hands for the microscope and sample, and automatic or manual stitching combines a series of frames into a single sample map saved as a frame, giving you a wide-area, high-detail overview.
