MIDI Recorder with E.Piano simply performs record/playback as you input MIDI signals.
When connecting an electric piano, organ, or keyboard to your iPhone/iPad, you can record the performance completely.
As a bonus, the app includes FM E.Piano sounds.
Also there is an on-screen keyboard, you can make a note of your idea anywhere.
- You can toggle kinds of signals to record.
- You can select MIDI channels.
- By default the app processes signals from/to all connected MIDI ports.
- The app makes files of Standard MIDI File Format 0.
- iTunes File Sharing and iCloud are supported.
- Virtual MIDI is supported.
MIDI is a standard about controlling audio devices.
You can control musical instruments with separately sold MIDI adapter for iPhone/iPad.
The internal FM synthesizer processes only note on, note off, and sustain control, and ignores the others.
This app may sound even if the device is silent.

This is awesome!
Update: Is there anyway you can add a function button to repeat the midi once it finishes it starts again? Like Play Once, Repeat, or Playlist?
Really loving the FM sound you added!
Could you please add a repeat or loop funtion/button? It would be nice to be able to record something on the fly and leave it looping.
You could later add a playlist function so it continues playing other midi songs one has made or other midi’s one could import.
Keep up the great work!
Nice tool to record midi from digital drum kit
I am learning to play drum on a Yamaha D55 drum pad kit. I need to record my music and compare to a professional drummer’s play. I don’t want to just record with an external mic as it picks up all the thumping noise from when the drum sticks hit the drum pads. You know, on a real drum kit, you won’t have the artificial thumping sound. This nice app, along with a midi-in/out to usb cable, allows me to record on my iPhone.
One little kink that took me while to figure out: as I am naive to midi, the recorded midi file has to be channeled back to my Yamaha drum kit and the recorded music would come out of the drum kit speakers. The recorded midi music would not come out of my iPhone’s speakers.
Getting Better! Needs a few Fixes..
First of all, thanks for such a great little app and for making it free!
Could you look into adding a mute switch to the internal synth? I’d love to quickly capture a midi file but it would be nice to be able to mute the synth since it has to be enabled for the app to work in the background.
Also, could you please allow for separate midi files to be created per midi channel? So as to be able to create a multitrack midi file? I’d like to load it afterwards to Cubasis for further editing,
With Family Sharing set up, up to six family members can use this app.
