Poor instructions.

I rate this app 2 stars for the simple reason that the instructions are poor. I had to remove the cover for my phone, touch the middle, top, backside of my phone to the blue chip area, my phone dinged but I had to continue to hold the phone there for a few seconds so it could register. Worked great once I figured it out.

I read many diff techniques from the reviews that did not work. I also read many abusive reviews calling people stupid for not achieving a scan from this app. People are not stupid, there are incorrect instructions in the reviews and no instructions on the app itself.

The sole reason I purchased silver from this company was this app. In the future I will prefer stamped serial numbers instead.

Great App — user error?

Based on other reviews, I believe most of the issues are sounding more like user/device error...legit all you gotta do is just tap your phone on your product and your all done — this isn’t rocket science here...

I say this because i had zero issues at all...I just rec’d my first two MintID products (5oz. Bar & 1oz. Round) and so I downloaded the app and registered, and because NFC is always running on iOS, and using my iPhone 11 Pro - I tapped the backside-tip of the phone (aka top section of the back of the phone) on the bar and BOOM! Results = GENUINE! Super easy, super quick, I love it. So far 2 for 2 genuine results & more to come...

I believe this app should have a higher rating than it currently has because it seems to work just fine. There’s no easier or efficient way to confirm the identity of your product, especially these days with so much counterfeit product and so many scams out there, sometimes it could be hard to tell...but not with MintID! So big shout out to the devs and creators of MintID by helping reassure authenticity with such ease! THANK YOU!!

REQUIRES A LITERAL PHYSICAL TAP !

MintID needs to update their instructions on their website. First, there is no setting on iPhones to turn on NFC scanning as the instructions say to do. After researching, all iPhones always have NFC running in the background.
This app also requires you to physically tap the coin, bar or product you are trying to scan. This can damage iPhone’s glass backing. It should work like Apple Pay without banging your phone.

Again horrible instructions as everyone assumes that when an app says to tap, they are thinking to tap your finger when the alert pops up that instructs to tap. One must tap your actual phone on the physical product to get the app to initiate the scan. Be careful not to damage your phone.

This must be changed as I can’t imagine to continue to bang my $1200 iPhone with it’s glass backing against bars of hard silver and gold in order to scan. The developers must update this app with ability to initiate the scan without having to physically tap the phone. I only did this on the MintID plastic roll of silver rounds and will not use this for actual metals until they update.
After spending over 40 minutes trying to scan using iPhone 11max pro with no luck and having to figure this out by research this whole concept of scanning is useless without an update and better support instructions. Embarrassing for a app targeted to customers to protect their authenticity of gold.
