Two things no other terminal has: Tailcat support (WireGuard tunnel to any server, no public IP, no account) and native herdr support (spaces, panes, agents as real UI).
mintOps is an SSH terminal for iPhone, iPad and Mac built around two things: Tailcat support and native herdr support.
TAILCAT SUPPORT — REACH ANY SERVER, NO ACCOUNT
Tailcat is Tailscale's "Tailscale without Tailscale": only the data plane (WireGuard tunnels, DERP relays, NAT traversal), none of the control plane (accounts, coordination servers). mintOps embeds it.
• Run `tailcat serve 22` once on a server behind NAT, at home or in the office — no public IP, no port forwarding, no VPN
• Connect from anywhere with the server's tailcat address or a DNS name; the tunnel starts through a relay and upgrades to a direct peer-to-peer path when it can
• Identity keys are generated and stored in the app; the server allows exactly the keys you list
• Works for plain SSH, key- or password-authenticated, and for tailcat's auth-free SSH mode
NATIVE HERDR SUPPORT — AGENTS AS REAL UI
herdr is a terminal runtime for coding agents: workspaces with tabs and split panes where Claude Code, Codex and others run. When mintOps connects to a server that runs herdr, it doesn't show you a tmux screen squeezed onto a phone — it renders herdr natively.
• Spaces, tabs and split panes as native views: tap to focus, swipe between panes on iPhone, zoom one pane, split and close from the toolbar
• Agents at a glance: which pane runs which agent, and whether it's working, idle or waiting for you
• Create and rename spaces and tabs; pick a named herdr session on hosts that run several
• Pane scrolling with real inertia and edge bounce; the screen answers your finger before the server does
• Review the agent's work without leaving the app: a file viewer with the git diffs of the pane's repository (plus Markdown, HTML, images, PDFs and source), and a web preview that finds the HTTP servers the agent started and opens them over a forwarded port
A TERMINAL THAT FITS THE DEVICE
• Multiple sessions at once, each in its own tab; password or key authentication, keys kept in the Keychain
• iPhone and iPad: a keyboard row with esc, ctrl, alt, tab and arrows, a configurable multi-page keypad for Ctrl combinations and function keys, and a prompt composer for longer messages to an agent
• Mac: menu bar Settings and About, keyboard shortcuts, resizable split views
• Metal rendering (optional), 256 colours and true colour, mouse support
PRIVATE BY DESIGN
No accounts. No relay servers operated by us. Everything travels directly between your device and your server over SSH, or SSH inside a Tailcat tunnel. Connection details and Tailcat identity keys stay in your device's Keychain and app storage, and the file viewer's download cache is deleted when the session ends.
REQUIREMENTS
A server you can reach over SSH. Tailcat connections need the tailcat CLI serving on the server; herdr mode turns on automatically when herdr is installed there. On any other server mintOps works as a regular terminal.
