We love your feedback and we update Motif regularly in response to it! Here’s what’s new in this release:
Text styles and formatting are now preserved when copying and pasting text. This includes font family and weight, color, size, alignment, and more. This makes it much easier to have consistent typography throughout your Book or Calendar.
We’ve enhanced the quality of your images as shown on the pages of your Book, Calendar or Card, doubling the resolution we use there. You may observe images sharpen as we load the higher resolution image.
We’ve improved the performance of the Login and Registration screens in the Checkout process, making ordering your project easier!
We fixed a bug in which the font family or font weight menu in the type palette (shown when a text box is selected) would appear empty and/or contain a subset of the total fonts available on your system.
We fixed a bug in which images you edited in the Photos image editor would not immediately show those edits on returning from the Photos editor to your Motif project.
We fixed a bug in which some projects would display a blank screen after opening them.
That’s it for now. Have questions or comments? You can send them to us, here:

In many ways better, in one way, worse
Overall, I was pleased after making my first photo book with Motif. It was much more customizable than the old Apple program, but there are a couple of things that I hope to see fixed. 1. Photos get lost in the binding. After getting the book inthe mail, I noticed that all photos on the page that border the binding lose some of the photo. I checked the program to see if I did something wrong. The only way to fix it is to then have a much too big space at the binding. Also, I would then have to manually change ever last page. 2. It would be nice if adding a text box dousn't automatically reformat the size of the photos on the page. Sometimes it's nice to just put the text over the photos, not just under them. 3. Changing the background color to the pages is a pain. Why can't I select all pages and make the change one time to cover every page, or however many pages I select? One at a time is a waste of my time. These are suggestions to make it better, but overall, I am pleased and already working on my next photo book.
Change is not always easy!
I have made many photo books previously in Photo. I was not too happy when they announced that it would go away and be replaced with Motif. I am never excited about learning a new program. I played around with Motif early on and was not too thrilled with what I saw. After a trip to New Orleans recently, I decided to try again. I am very please to report that Motif is easy to learn and I made a great book. There are a few things that are different and maybe a little clunky, but it could be me. First, I would love to see a option where a large image or panorama could be spread over two pages. Second, I was using my MacBook Pro and it crashed a few times. When I quit a few programs in the background it worked flawlessly. Third, it seems that most of my old books are not converting correctly. I am hoping that is a glitch that will be fixed. I also would like an option to place text right on the photo. For the most part, it was easy, fun and painfree. I look forward to making my next project and seeing what improvements are added. I have not received my book yet and will write another review on the quality of the product.

Hi Sobie1951, Thank you for giving Motif another try and taking the time to write this review. We use customer feedback to improve our app so look for an even better Motif in future releases. You'll find videos on adding text to layouts, full-page spread images, and many other topics by visiting www.motifphotos.com/en-us/support. We hope this helps and look forward to your next photo project. By the way, we’d also like to let you know, Motif recently launched its iOS version. This means you can create photo books directly from your iPhone or iPad. Just download Motif Photos iOS for free from the App Store. Kind regards, The Motif Team.
Awesome for producing calendars
I’ve been making calendars for the past ten years using Apple. I was greatly disheartened last year to have to switch to Shutterfly, as I ended up with something not nearly as aesthetically pleasing, not to mention having to adapt to a new interface that I found less useful/featureful for layout/editing. I was very happy to find Motif and be able to return using a well done and featureful app for calendar building. Integration with Apple Photo is great - it has basically returned me back to where I was before Apple stopped directly supporting the business. In fact, the interface seems better and more easily navigated than before.
I haven’t seen the actual calendars yet, as I just finished creating them and placing my order. But as far as the application goes, I happily give it five stars.
updating as of 31 Jan 2020: we recieved our calendars at the start of the year and they are awesome. The quality is superb. I could not have hoped for a better outcome. Highly highly recommend Motif for your calendar needs. I'll be exploring both books and cards in the near future. Many thanks!!!
