NDI sources on your local subnet are presented in a pop up menu to select, when you tap on the screen. If you enter additional 'NDI Access' IP Addresses from other subnets into the system prefs panel for NDI Monitor, those NDI sources may also be accessed. Includes support for NDI Discovery server (see app settings), resolution control, video flip for autocue and control of NDI network Protocol for reliability.

Notes: A very stable WIFI connection, or a wired ethernet connection are required for smooth playback of NDI Streams. Using a directional WIFI antenna and using the sweet spot of your wifi can help. If you experience glitching of audio or dropped video frames, the problem is very likely a wifi connection which is insufficiently stable to support smooth NDI video to iOS - in this case please try a wired ethernet to lightning adaptor.

You should not expect perfect performance when selecting Hi Resolution NDI - which is offered as an experimental mode for users with very fast devices, on very fast, clean network connections. In some cases you may see great results in hi res.

There are preferences in the System Settings app for NDI Monitor to setup application options. You can also use the app NDI Scanner as a stream selector - it will open NDI Monitor when you click on a selected stream. You can also now set the NDI Device name, required for multi device operations with iOS17

NB. This app does not support NDI | HX1 format streams - only full NDI format and NDI HX2

Set the "NDI Device Name" in the app settings if you are using multiple devices on the same network - to give them unique names.

A great start, but could be much more

This is the only app out there that does what it does, so it’s hard to make comparisons. The basic functionality works fine — it detects and displays NDI a/v streams. Sometimes the video freezes when switching between apps and requires an app restart, but usually reselecting the source will reset it.

Where it falls down are the little things that you expect to work but don’t. The audio output won’t play over Bluetooth, so you can’t use wireless headphones or speakers. The app hasn’t been built with iPad multitasking support, so you can’t do side-by-side mode or picture-in-picture, which would be really useful if you’re monitoring a stream that you’re controlling with another app.

For the price, a little more polish would be nice, but until there’s some competition, I don’t know if we’ll see it.

Can not receive as portrait window

Works to receive well, but can only view any source in landscape even if the source is portrait. It gets fit to window to yield big black bars on the left and right of a smaller portrait window

Definitely needs work

This is awesome... it definitely needs the low bandwidth option to be available like the camera app if that is even possible. Did a time test. It is well with in one second loss from watching a timer.
It is a great start, hopefully with some time it can get better.

For notes we have a ruckus network that we have streamed NDI over to a compute stick on. We know our network can handle it. I think it has something to do with the iPad. I’m using a mini, will try to try it on a 9.7 pro later

Hi Ekimnosredna. Thanks for your positive comments. Note that you can control Hi Bandwidth (or low bandwidth), as well as HiDPI modes in the Systems Settings for NDI Monitor. On the sort of wifi network required for this app - you should see latency of only a few frames. If you are seeing as much as a second - then you network or your device are probably struggling and you may want to reconfigure.
