Most to-do apps are built around deadlines. Most chores aren't. The bins go out every Monday, the plants want water every few days, the sheets need changing every couple of weeks, and the boiler gets serviced once a year.
Needs Doing is built around those rhythms. Instead of asking what's due today, it shows what has gone longest past when it should have been done, most urgent first. A daily job a day late ranks the same as a monthly job a month late, which is how it actually feels.
SAY WHEN, IN PLAIN WORDS
• Today, or by a date – for one-off jobs
• At some point – no date; it slowly rises up the list so it isn't forgotten
• Every week on Monday – tied to the calendar, like bin day
• Roughly every two weeks – counted from when you last did it
SEE WHAT NEEDS DOING
Tasks are grouped by how urgent they are – Due soon, Due, Late and Overdue – each with its own colour. Tick one off and the next time it's due works itself out. Missed bin day? It stays due instead of piling up a backlog of missed weeks.
A GENTLE MORNING DIGEST
One notification a day, at a time you choose, listing what's due. Nothing on days when nothing is.
