Description

Improved IPv6 detection and support
Improved for latest macOS version
Minor interface updates and bug fixes

Use Network Speed Tester to measure the actual transfer speed of your local wifi or wired network. A graph helps you see changes in realtime. Optimize your wifi network by moving or placing your wifi router until you reach the best results.

Make sure to also download the free iOS Client App for even simpler speed tests between Mac and your iPhone/iPad or the Apple TV.

Example Uses
- Verify your network components (swiches, router) to find bottlenecks in your wired network
- Optimize the placement of your wifi router, try different locations until you get the best network performance
- Measure impact of wifi range extenders
- Find the best spot for watching streaming movies in your home

Features
- Accurate performance measuring of your network using client-server technology
- Test local NAS / filesystem
- Get actual real-world network throughput and average speed
- Graphical visualization
- Find test servers automatically via Bonjour services
- Export data to tab text format

To make a proper measurement, you need to have either two Macs in your network, or one Mac and an iOS/tvOS device. (iPad, iPhone, iPod Touch, Apple TV are supported) The Mac will act as a server, the other device as the client for visualizing the results. You can also test via a local NAS / filesystem.

Excellent specific utility

Big video files taking forever to download from your networked storage? Not keeping up with the famous-for-being-famous because the gossip websites won’t load before the news is olds? If so, and you’re wondering where the fault lies, you COULD check your internet speed. You COULD clean your computer. AND – you could run a test of your wifi network’s speed and see whether you need to buy a new router…or maybe just relocate your current one. Do you have two devices you can connect to your network? Like a computer and a smartphone? Of course you do! So with this app and the companion app for your phone, soon you’ll know whether the fault, Dear Brutus, lies in your ISP or in your home. You’ll need free services to check the speed of your internet connection, but this app will tell you how well your devices communicate with the gatekeeper to all that is good in the world, your home or office wifi network. Easy to use, quick, with good quantitative results. An excellent utility and well worth the price if you’re trying to diagnose a case of internetus delinquens.

useful to find bad cables and to site wireless access points

This is a great tool for measuring network throughput and helping to figure out transmission problems. I had a bad cable termination somewhere in a transmission chain and this helped me find it. I was also able to use this to move around my wireless AP to get good signal. I’d love to also see packet loss and latency in the graph in the future since those factors also change.

Very Simply Put

The app did exactly what I wanted it to do on the first try. I started a screen share with my server from my MacBook and grabbed the app from the Purchases tab. Launched it on the MacBook, launched it on the server, selected my MacBook’s name and boom, 91. Thanks.
