Nimble Task is a lightweight task manager built on plain text. Open a file, write your tasks, and get things done — no account, no cloud, no fuss. Your tasks live in a local text file you own, using the widely used TaskPaper format. Structure your work with Areas, Projects, Tasks, and Notes — all in readable plain text you can open in any editor. Create separate files for different domains of your life — work, home, side projects — and switch between them whenever you need to. PLAIN TEXT, YOUR WAY Your tasks are stored in a local file you control. No proprietary database, no lock-in. The file is yours. TASKPAPER FORMAT Built on the TaskPaper syntax: Areas (* prefix), Projects (line ending with :), Tasks (- prefix), and Notes (plain lines). Two additions make Nimble Task unique: Areas let you group projects into higher-level domains, and notes belong to their enclosing project — making it easy to jot down thoughts while reviewing. TAGS & FILTERING Add @tags anywhere in your text. They are detected automatically and appear as clickable pill buttons above the editor. Click one to filter, click more to narrow further. Search by keyword with ⌘F. When a filter is active, the view is read-only so you can browse without accidental edits. Press Escape to return to editing. FREE & PRIVATE No subscriptions, no in-app purchases, no ads, no tracking. Nimble Task runs entirely on your Mac and never connects to the internet. SYNCING Since your tasks are just a plain-text file, place it in a folder synced by iCloud Drive, Dropbox, or any other service to access it from another Mac.

Version 1.1 adds Project filtering, that can be combined with Tags filtering, as well as the ability to change or add tasks and notes when filters are active, greatly improving usability.
