Ratings and Reviews
Great series! One small issue
So this whole series has been fantastic to play- it’s cleverly written, and each level is unique in its approach.
However, I’ve run into an issue with the “Operation Labwork” (minor spoilers/cheats ahead): for the part where I need to set off the smoke alarm, the one in the biology lab is entirely covered with the coin shop button. I didn’t even realize it was there until I finally used hints to figure out how to proceed. I also have no way to tap it because it is covered, essentially stonewalling my progress. So if there could be a way to remove the button or move it somewhere else, then that would be great! Other than that, I’ve run into no issues with gameplay or other mechanics.
Like I said, I love this game, and I would really love to be able to complete it!
A Bloody Delight (Literally)
This is by far one of the best puzzle serieses of all time. Inventive (and brilliant) in its puzzles, hilariousin in its humor, this game is overall a delightfully devillish experience.
It’s honestly incredible how this game surpasses both of the previous ones in its writing, solutions, and overall charm. Also, seeing the growth of Asset 1080 from a relatively silent protagonist into this endearingly wry, weathered professional has been such a delight. The little snippets of flavor text here and there (Jeremy, Asset 1081) really makes them come to life and I absolutely love this one-of-a-kind journey.
If you haven’t already, please play these incredible games. 10/10 would clean again <3
Note: It would be nice if a small overview of the controls was given during the first level, I got majorly stuck at the airplane level because I’d forgotten how to play. To anyone who’s confused, hold with two fingers to see all interactable locations, and select the magnifying glass in the top left of your inventory to examine items.
Great in many ways except one.
For almost every aspect of this game, I’ll sing the developers’ praises. Gameplay, art, puzzles, storyline, all fantastic.
But unfortunately, they made the decision to have all the voice lines be AI generated.
If they had just chosen to not have voice lines at all, I wouldn’t have minded. If they had hired voice actors, that would’ve been fantastic, but not necessary. But this lazy, insufficient, half measure? That just irked me.
It feels like the devs wanted all the benefits of voice acting without having to pay for it, and well, they got what they paid for. The AI isn’t bad, it’s doing the best it can, but an AI can’t make acting choices or convincingly fake emotion, and so every line felt dull. There were issues with emphasis and tone (e.g, getting tripped up on homographs and not being able to identify what part of a sentence needed to be a different tone) that could likely be dealt with by better programming and further developments in the field. But the creativity and effort and value of real voice acting is something that can’t be replicated yet, and even when it can in the future, it will require someone to program so many specific and varied nuances that the process will end up being the same amount of work as that of a VA.
