Notesidian is a menu-bar companion for Obsidian. It puts the notes in your Obsidian vault one keystroke away — a fast, floating notepad that reads and writes the very same Markdown files Obsidian uses.
This isn't a general-purpose Markdown editor. It's built for people who already keep their life in an Obsidian vault and want to capture a thought, check off a task, or glance at a note without opening the full app. Press the global hotkey, jot something down, and it autosaves straight into your vault — Obsidian picks up the change automatically.
BUILT AROUND YOUR VAULT
• Point Notesidian at your Obsidian vault, and each of its six tabs pins to a real note in it.
• Jump between those notes with ⌘1–⌘6, or reassign a tab without leaving the keyboard (⌘O).
• Give tabs icons (SF Symbols or emoji) and colors so your key notes are one glance away.
• Point a tab at "today's daily note" and it follows your Obsidian Daily Notes settings — folder, date format, and all.
TWO-WAY SYNC WITH OBSIDIAN
• Every edit autosaves to the Markdown file, so Obsidian sees it right away.
• Changes you make in Obsidian show up live in Notesidian.
• It's the same file on disk — nothing is copied, converted, or locked away.
REAL MARKDOWN, RENDERED LIVE
• A live-preview editor shows headings, bold, italics, code, quotes, lists, and links formatted as you type, while the file stays plain Markdown.
• Flip to source mode anytime; both are fully editable.
• A formatting toolbar and the shortcuts you'd expect: ⌘B, ⌘I, ⌘U, ⌘K for links, and more.
TASKS THAT CLICK
• Checklists render as real checkboxes — click to toggle them done.
• Optionally stamp a completion date when you check something off, matching the Obsidian Tasks format.
QUICK AND OUT OF THE WAY
• Opens from the menu bar or a global hotkey, floating above your other apps on every Space.
• Choose your editor font and size, launch at login, and resize it to fit.
• Your settings and tab layout sync across your Macs via iCloud.
Notesidian needs an Obsidian vault to be useful — a vault is simply a folder of Markdown files on your Mac. Your notes stay exactly where they are: plain Markdown, in your vault, yours.

Notesidian 1.3.0 adds spelling correction to Vim mode. ]s/[s to jump between misspellings, z= for a fix-it popup right at the word, plus a new status bar showing your mode, word count, and cursor position. Also fixes several Vim list-editing quirks:
- erasing a bulleted/numbered/task/heading/quote item's last character no longer deletes the whole line
- V-yanking or cutting a marked line now keeps its bullet or checkbox on paste
