NZeTA – Get it before you go
Download this free app and use it to request your NZeTA and pay the IVL. Using the app is the fastest way to request an NZeTA and should take you less than 5 minutes.
You can use the app to scan your passport to upload your details and scan your credit or debit card for ease of payment.
An NZeTA request costs NZD $9.
What are the NZeTA & IVL
The NZeTA is a border security measure introduced by the New Zealand Government on 1 October 2019.

Most visitors coming to New Zealand must pay an International Visitor Conservation and Tourism Levy (IVL) of NZD $35.
The IVL is a way for you to contribute directly to the tourism infrastructure you use and help protect the natural environment you enjoy during your stay in New Zealand.

Immigration New Zealand (INZ) will use the information you provide in this app about yourself or others, including photographs, to assess NZeTA requests.
Information may also be used to improve INZ’s services and administration of the Immigration Act 2009.

A new edit icon on the passport details screen allows users to go back and re-take their selfies.

Quick and Easy..needs improvement
We got through the process quickly for my husband on my phone after a trial and error at picture step. Email of eta issuance came a few minutes after. It was fast. Very impressive. Unfortunately, we had to delete my husband’s ‘issued’ status info first before I could request mine. My email confirmation of pending review came for me, but no confirmation for issuance although the app showed ‘issued’ for me. I finally had that figured out when I searched all mail in my in box and found the ‘issued’ confirmation email for me in my archive folder. Hmmmm. It wasn’t user error. 😛
So looking forward to visit the beautiful New Zealand soon.

Basic improvements required
Should have ability to upload a picture. Taking an acceptable picture of my infant son is not that easy. Unless it is by design, for security reasons, that photo upload is not permitted. I can understand if that is the reason.
App should let me request an ETA for an additional person without having to remove the first "Issued" record on my device. App seems to assume one device per traveller. Not the case for me and my infant son.

Easy to use, needs space for additional travelers
I just used this app and it was very easy to use. My information went in and payment was a breeze. The issue I see is that I can’t add my kids on here, there’s only room for one person. Since my 5 month old isn’t using a smart phone yet it’s up to me to get the visa. Unfortunately I can’t add her on the app and still have to use the online application which costs more.

Thanks your your feedback. We understand the current limitations for parents applying on behalf of their dependent children. We are working to allow multiple requests to be submitted from one device and hope this functionality will be included in the near future.
