“one sec” uses Shortcuts Automation to toggle a deep breath animation whenever you open one of the configured apps (Instagram, Twitter, YouTube…). This breaks unconcious social media habits short-term (literally, as soon as you have set it up) and even helps long-term by adding more friction when opening these apps.

Mindfulness is a state of active, open attention on the present: Did you really want to open Instagram? Or was it just because you're bored waiting for your bus?
This app helps you to reflect your actions, thoughts, and feelings; disrupting harmful social media habits with mindfulness.

On top of that, “one sec” also contributes your mindful moments to the Health App via HealthKit.

Excellent new feature!

I found this app very useful for getting me out of the pattern of ending up on social media without meaning to. My thumb will just take me there! Now this app gives me a chance to change my mind. In previous versions, the flaw was if I was actually trying to make an Instagram post I needed to switch between Instagram and my notes app or my photos app. Then I had to watch the automation every time I switched back to Instagram and ended up disabling the automation because it was too annoying. Now there’s a new feature that allows you to switch back-and-forth for a limited amount of time and still keep the automation set. This is great! Great job great developers! Super useful app!

I needed a way to stop the mindless social media check that was better than the built in locking features on iPhone or any other app. It’s brilliant because instead of trying to force you to not go on the apps, which makes me rebel just because I can, it instead makes you really think about WHY you’re doing it. And it makes it easier (big button, no need to add a reason) to decide not to go on than to go on. Now if I’m going on a distracting social media app I have to be intentional about it. Not only that, but if I close and try to reopen, i have to do the exercise all over again. My screen time is down 40% since I started using the app and I am so thankful for it!

So annoying in all the best ways

Setting this up took a minute as it’s involved within the system settings and it’s really a very intuitive way to use the features on iOS imho….I’ve only been using it for a little over a day and I’m so annoyed with opening the apps (I put in every block possible including forcing a note on why) I’ve went from 4 hours of mindless scrolling yesterday to only 36 minutes today. it’s made opening Instagram and Facebook the most annoying part of my day. Nothing else has worked to help curb my usage of these mind numbing apps until I found this. Thank you so far! I’ll update in a month or so of how my habits have changed
