APMEX AND ERIC SPROTT
I have been buying gold and silver from APMEX for 3-4 years. I have to date never had a problem with my purchase arriving on time. I also listen to ERIC SPROTT weekly on u-tube under Eric Sprott’s weekly round up. He gives his appraisal of the precious metals markets and the stocks he is interested in. Both are reliable and trustworthy. I have placed money in the hands of both groups and trust them implicitly. I am now placing money with OneGold and it is a perfect way to protect your wealth against the devaluation of fiat currencies.
It’s the best way I have found to buy and sell precious metals. Easy to move money from gold to silver holdings and easy to trade metals for fiat currency. SIMPLE AND STRAIGHTFORWARD!
Don’t Try to Redeem
The app needs to be updated to display redeemable value. If there was a good alternative, I would close my account because of how bad their customer service is. I was given attitude and told “only 3% of our customers do what you’re doing.” Understood, but redemption is a very specific feature that sets OneGold apart from their competitors... supposedly.
When attempting to redeem, I waited and waited and my order was cancelled. I’d made a bunch of transfers to support a redemption and - because of fine print saying the funds you’re using need to be in your account for 60-days prior to redemption, and the website and app not taking this into account - now after their fees and something their staff did to “help me resolve my issue” I now have less metal on my account AND have a negative balance. Requested a call back from a manager at least three times and my tickets were just marked Closed. I’m going to make a redemption and consider my options. I will also no longer buy from APMEX because of their affiliation and this poor experience.
I’d happily have given 3 stars had customer service been polite. Or 4 stars if/when the redemption page warns you of your redeemable value. Or 5 stars if you could exchange multiple metals to make a redemption against another metal. Until then ✌️OneGold.
EXPENSIVE HIDDEN FEES
If you sell gold, it will say $0 fees on the app. I sold 10k of gold and they charged $154 without showing it on the fees. Ridiculous amount of fees and hidden. Should be illegal. Update: After calling, reading the website, and through emails, these guys are all over the place. On the website they said there’s a .30% premium for selling. On the phone they said there’s a .8% premium for not only selling but buying too. There are fees on this app, so don’t be fooled.
Update: Customer support is extremely unhelpful and rude. Luckily my bank, was extremely helpful. I paid $30 to cancel the transfer and ended up saving over $130 in fees. OneGold responded saying they do not advertise no fees on the app, yet if you buy/sell gold on the app, it says 0% service fee, 0% transaction fee. They say this is all listed in their FAQ, yeah, it’s no wonder why it’s frequently asked! Because they don’t make it clear. They try really hard to convince you there are no hidden fees, but there are indeed hidden fees. Be aware of that moving forward.

Before a transaction can be completed in the mobile app, we display the buy/sell premium, as well as the spread for an additional layer of transparency. These fees can also be found in our FAQ and product pages. For gold, there is a 0.80% buy premium and 0.30% sell premium.
