Smart merges you can work inside, and a background colour you can pick off the screen. • Open a smart merge and the layers inside it now have their own opacity and blend mode. The controls sit just under the Done bar. • Mask and Erase are separate things on a smart merge. The Mask button gives you a real, empty mask; erasing keeps its own record, so painting a mask white no longer brings erased pixels back. • Making a smart merge — or closing one — selects it, so Mask and the rest of the panel act on the merge instead of on a layer you cannot see. • Fixed: painting with alpha lock below full opacity vanished the next time the canvas rebuilt. That happened on undo, and on its own once a long session trimmed its history. The work stays put now. • The background colour has an eyedropper. Sample from the canvas, from a reference image, or anywhere else on screen — and in the New Document window too. • Fixed: clicking the background colour swatch did nothing; only the empty strip beside it opened the picker. • Documents saved by this version keep erasing and masking apart. Older documents are converted when you open them.

Seven languages, layers that merge without being lost, and a rebuilt Smudge. • The whole app is translated into German, Spanish, French, Portuguese (Brazil), Japanese and Korean — every menu, panel and slider, each reviewed by a native speaker. Pick a language in Preferences. • Smart merges: fold a group into a single layer you can paint on, and open it again whenever you want. The layers inside are never flattened away. Effects, erasing and Smudge all work on a closed merge. • New ways to select: the magic wand, Invert Selection, Select Layer Contents from a layer's own alpha, expand or contract by a number of pixels, or paint the selection by hand in Quick Mask. • Smudge is one tool again. Every stroke pushes the paint along and mixes it into what it crosses; colour diffuses sideways as it travels, so going back over a smear keeps working it instead of flattening it. • Layer effects, including a sticker-style Border and Feather Edges, on layers, groups and smart merges. • Transform: a movable pivot for rotation and scale, hold Command for momentary distort, Option-drag to duplicate instead of move, and Command-drag to move a selection's contents. • Time-lapse recording is now segmented, so a long session records and exports without holding the whole thing in memory. • Blend modes preview live as the popup is moved through, and the size and opacity rails belong to the tool in hand. • Faster: autosave pauses less, saving re-encodes only the layers that changed, layer thumbnails no longer cost a full-canvas read each, and history trimming bakes into the layer bases instead of rebuilding the canvas. • Fixed: the Gradient ignored alpha lock and outline-free selections. Fixed: erasing did nothing on a closed smart merge. Fixed: a selection dragged off the canvas blocked painting until it was deselected. Fixed: changing the language asked for a relaunch, then only quit. Fixed: exported PNGs keep their alpha and are tagged sRGB.
