The iPhone 12 (and variants) is now compatible with the Pantone Color Match Card!

The essential Pantone Color iOS app for designers and color experts! Pantone Connect streamlines the color inspiration to design process, making it easy for you to measure and match physical materials to Pantone Color, share your inspirational color palettes to social media, and navigate any updated Pantone Color System to find the perfect hue while on the go.

When paired with the Color Match Card from Pantone, the app calibrates your iOS device's camera for color measurement, and captured colors are quickly matched to their nearest Pantone Color more accurately than extracting color from a photo. Be sure to check that your iOS device is compatible with Color Match Card before you order one. While most device models are compatible, we are still in the process of adding some iOS devices to our list.

The app is part of the new Pantone Connect digital color platform for mobile, web, and Adobe Creative Cloud (Extension), meaning colors discovered while on the go can be easily applied to design files when you're back in your studio.

The following features will remain free for everyone on mobile and web:
- All Pantone Colors, always up to date
- sRGB and Hex values for all colors
- Measurement with the Pantone Color Match Card
- Color extraction from images
- Palette+image sharing to social media
- Color library search, navigation, sorting, and filtering
- Pantone system cross referencing (X-Ref)
- Trending color palettes from Pantone

Premium features for mobile and tablet are also currently free to use, and will include:
- CMYK and L*a*b* values for all colors
- Convert to Pantone from sRGB, Hex, L*a*b*, and CMYK values
- Saving more than 1 palettes and team palette collaboration
- Nuance color to nearby hues
- Color harmonies

Currently, Pantone Connect is completely free to use, including all Premium features, while we actively develop and improve this platform. Free accounts can be created in-app. Premium accounts can be activated on Pantone's website.

Other Pantone App Compatibility:
Pantone Connect accounts do not work with the Pantone Studio for iOS app or vice versa, and users who pay for Pantone Studio access will not receive access to Pantone Connect.

You can’t seat with us iPhone-12s

Update Jan 3rd, 2021: Just tried it again and yes, glad to discover Color Match Card does now work great on iPhone12s. too. Glad to be able to use my card again with the app. Nice perk to start 2021 on the right side, Pantone. Thank you!

Nice, "Color of the Year" launched. And the app has gotten a new update. It now includes a direct link to "Color of the Year." Yay! However, it is December 11th, 2020 is almost over, and Pantone Connect app still does not offer support to use its main feature - the Color Match Card measuring - with any of the iPhones 12 launched in 2020? Hello, Pantone app devs! Priorities please.

Developer Response ,

We're sorry for the extended delay, and are happy to announce that the iPhone 12 is now supported with the Color Match Card in Pantone Connect! Please contact our team at if you need any further assistance with the app or the card.

Good to compare colors, lacks palette manageability

It works great to look for colors and compare them. I would love to see some features to manage palettes though. I can't reorganise colours in my palettes, they appear in the order I've added them and can't move them. Some drag'n'drop feature would be great here. What I dislike also is that I can add given colour only to the palette which I'm currently working on, there's no option to choose which palette to add the colour to.

Developer Response ,

HI Marta,
Thank you for sharing your feedback, we appreciate it! You are indeed able to rearrange you palette, if you reach out to our support team-> someone will be able to further assist you and show you how to navigate through our features.

Not paying for old features.

I’ve had no problem using this app. I LOVED it For my personal inquire and my hobbies. Until now. You have to get a monthly/yearly subscription. for the same features I’ve been using for all along for free. I am not paying for a premium version that is THE SAME as the old free version. I get it. Business needs to make money. But asking $7.99 a month for the features I had access to a few days ago is not worth it. Nothing premium about it or worth it to me. If premium version offered only new features and the free was the same as it has been. I might be interested. I would love to be able to use these app more. But unfortunately I’m using it a lot less.

Developer Response ,

Hi there, The app was free during its beta trial however, It was never meant to be a perpetual free app, but we sincerely apologize if we failed to communicate this clearly. We continue to offer freemium access with a 30-day trial to our premium features. With our community's support, we can continue servicing and providing future enhancements.
