Task lists shouldn't turn into graveyards. Some weeks nothing feels worth starting. PathKept quietly shows you where to begin, so you don't have to decide.
PathKept is a Mac task manager built for restless, easily overloaded minds. It does not assume every task should feel equally urgent or that your brain works like everyone else's.
It is local-only. There is no account. There is no sync. There is no AI. There is no analytics. PathKept stores its own data on your Mac. PathKept requires a subscription, with a 7-day free trial (see pricing below).
WHY TASK LISTS QUIETLY FAIL
Every task looks equally urgent at first glance, so picking which one to start feels impossible. You pick none, or you feel you pick the wrong one and your mind wanders.
Out of sight, out of mind. A project disappears from the screen and disappears from your head, even when it still matters to you.
The list grows. The decisions get heavier. Eventually you stop opening it. PathKept is built around these specific failures, not in spite of them.
WHAT MAKES PATHKEPT DIFFERENT
Shows what fits where you are right now.
PathKept surfaces what to do next based on your energy, focus, and available time; not pretending you can do anything, anywhere, at any moment. Not every task is equally urgent, and PathKept stops pretending they are.
Keeps the forgotten visible.
Projects that drift out of mind don't drop off the radar. PathKept gently surfaces them again, on your terms, so out-of-sight no longer means out-of-mind.
Makes the invisible first step visible.
Every task carries its first physical motion. Not "write the report" but "open the laptop on the kitchen table." The thing that actually starts the task and lowers the friction to begin.
Projects need a visceral why, not a deadline.
Each project has a "why it still matters" field. Drift checks remind you to revisit it. When the why dies, the project quietly dies without shame.
Knows what is alive and what has gone quiet.
Some projects are hot. Some have drifted. PathKept reflects this honestly, so a project you have not touched in six weeks stops pretending to be "high priority."
Hyperfocus protection.
When you are in the work, PathKept stays out of the way. No notifications. No counters. No reminders that another task exists.
Done is a feeling, not a checkbox.
Mark tasks done when you feel done with them. Half-finished, partly-shipped, abandoned-on-purpose because these still count. You decide what done means.
Break big tasks into smaller sub-tasks.
Many tasks hide several smaller steps. PathKept lets you break them into sub-tasks, so the two-hour wall becomes a fifteen-minute step. The original task stays attached.
Survives abandonment.
PathKept does not punish you for not opening it for a month. No streaks, no badges, no productivity scores. Pick up where you left off. The app does not care.
Calendar equals hard landscape only.
PathKept reads your calendar to show real commitments. It can create finite onboarding review events only when you ask. No time-blocking.
