Description

Your photos are touching. Touch them back. Petal is the only photo editor for the Apple Vision Pro.

Petal brings your photos to life with an amazing deep interface. Petal shows your photo in a grid of variations. It's like having a table of large prints to choose your favorite from.

Edit your photos on the largest screen, with the highest resolution.

Add filters/adjustments and view them in a stack.

Even better, view the stack in all dimensions.*

*(OK, maybe not all, but at least the three we know of. But seriously, have you ever seen your digital photos blown-up to museum-sized prints, in perfect lighting conditions, and were able to then edit them?)

Basic functionality locked behind a subscription and destructive editing ruin a cool concept.

The app get some leeway, since it’s trying something new and interesting, but there is nothing to justify having a subscription in this app. If you are going to use that dark pattern, you need to either have ongoing infrastructure costs, or be way more polished and feature-rich than this app is.

For example, locking image size behind a subscription is especially terrible. The app destructively saves over the original image, and there doesn’t seem to be a way of undoing which I could find. Fortunately I had a copy of the photo elsewhere. It also converted rom heic to jpg, and I don’t think the metadata it saved was correct.

All of this could be forgiven in a cool, actually free, app. And I’d probably pay a few bucks, once, for what’s there. But not with a predatory “pro” subscription.

It just gets better

This is the only photo editing app for the Apple Vision Pro that I’ve seen. It also happens to be the best.
